I know one thing that holds Rooks up when it comes to taking bases is that they usually pork all the strats at the base.
I see porking strats as a defensive gesture and a major hindrance to offensive operations. When Armageddon flew as Bish I participated in some of their missions. Strat porking was strictly forbidden. Most Bish missions kill the VH first, acks 2nd, then flatten the town and cap the field.
If you want to stop enemy fighters from upping then kill the FH's, not the fuel. Who needs more than 25 fuel in any fighter when the enemy is coming to you?
End result of alot of Bish missions I participated in was a brand new field freshly stolen from the enemy INTACT. This means that those who want to rearm still can and those who took damage from acks and any enemy fighters that managed to get up, could replane and the mission stayed together for the next target.
As a side note excess ordinance was allowed to be dropped on hangers as long as at least one BH and one VH remained up.
