I like it.

And she will see 500,000 km easy.

Have a fair bit of experience with vehicles for my age and Toyota makes the best damned vehicles out there.

If I had my choice, I would stick with my 92 GMC Pickup. Heck, I love my old truck!

Tundras are pretty ugly, but you can't really argue with Toyota's quality.  It'll be a tight quiet ride that'll get high miles.

Ford was my choice until I heard that toyota was making a double cab Tundra.   An F-350 Crewcab (double) 4x4 long bed with the Powerstroke turbo disel.   BUT.......................

I work on ambulances and they all have this engine, THEY SUCK.  We have had nothing but problems with the turbos.  Frequently replacing these $8,000 motors at less than 100k miles.  Things were falling off of the body, frequent radiator leaks, oil leaks.

So no thank you.  I have had 5 toyota trucks, well over 1 million miles total on them and not even a knob has fallen off.  Nothing, nadda, zilch has ever gone wrong with them.   I agree that the double cab is kind of smurfy but I can live with that for the quality.  The looks can grow on ya after a while.   Think about when Dodge changed its looks so radicaly back in the early 90's.  We now think nothing of them.

I almost live on the road.  (Need something roomy and reliable)  I have a growing family (good chance wife might be prego with # 2)(Need something that holds 4 people and all the stuff that goes with kids.)  Live in the mountains where 2-4 feet of snow is not uncommon (need a 4x4 with good ground clearence)  Currently remodeling a house, have a dog, fishing boat, 4 wheelers. (need a truck (open bed.)

I rented a chevy quad cab p/up w/6' bed, 4wd, and drove it 640 miles to Pittsburgh on the 13th.  Was amazed at how quiet it was and how nice the ride was. Got about 20 mpg too. On the way back I stoopped at 350 miles and it was just below 1/2 tank. Musta had a tail wind :)

Had to pick up some doors for my Buick and they fit in the bed like it was made for it.

If I ever need to rent again, I'll take the truck the next time too. Only cost me 300 for the week.  Oh yeah, cd player too...

Dont misinterpret what I'm saying - not trying to blow horns for chevy here, but what a great ride - pleasantly surprised..

New vehicles are very well done.  They are completely devoid of anything that might make a person the least bit physicaly uncomfortable (except for the shoulder belts)and require absolutely no mechanical ability to start, drive  or maintain.  They do require a manual like any other computerized device.  but only if you want to know how to open the gas door or shut off this or that feature or... turn on the lights or any of a myriad of "features".

My newest vehicle is a 1969 and both my cars have standard transmissions.  I smile every time I go out to em... some of you probly couldn't start em and have never warmed up a car.   I love the adventure of driving em.

sitting out front is my city truck also... It is a new dodge extended cab pickup.  I like it fine.  It does everything pretty well..  It is boring as toejam but that is a 'quality' all in itself... I know it will start and run and drive within seconds of turning the key no matter what the weather.   I also know that if it stops running... well... so what? call a tow truck.   It seems devoid of personality.  If it does have one it is at least benign.

One of the women at work was complaining to me that I didn't wave at here as she drove by..  I asked her... "what were you driving?"   "A white toyota ****"  she says..  I told her that I was probly in a '69 SS elky or a 1955 healey... both with headers and 400+Hp..  I am probly a little easier to recognize in those cars than she is in her toyota or civic.

I completely agree lazs.  My father-in-law and I have a project that when(?) we have the time we will build.  It's a 66 GMC stepside.  Looking forward to the time spent with it but life keeps getting in the way.  :(
