Thanks for making my morning in Aces High!
Even though I did die a lot, here is an AAR. Feel free to offer your side of the story...
I logged on for a couple of flights before work. First flight I up in a pony and start grabbing towards the fight with Wail and Bane nearby. I alt-tab to the desktop to tune RW and when I return I've got Mitsu in a 262 on my 6 at d1.0k. I break but too late... Ok, I reup and head back as Bane get's tagged by Mitsu and heads for the deck with his engine out. Mitsu zooms over me and I force overshoot (pretty easy when he's a 262) and tag his right engine as he goes by. Wail and I then give chase for 2 sectors as Mitsu tries to get back to base.
Mitsu lands while we are out of icon range then sits on the rwy, calling us in to strafe. All the ack is up but I dive in anyway and tag him good but he still manages to .ef and I zoom out of the ack unscathed. Mitsu then ups in a Spit 9 to take on Wail and myself. We e fight him and send him down... "Victory 1 by BLUEmako" although it just as equally belonged to Wail.
Mitsu sends a <S> and politely asks us to fight again. How can we refuse? This time, though, a 109 also ups to join in. This proves to be a fatal distraction as Mitsu HO's Wail in the vertical to bring him down. I drop in towards Mitsu only to have him reverse and land a front quarter shot (HO'd again) with the Hispanos, damaging my engine oil lines. I hightail it for home but it's just too far away. I get enough separation form Mitsu and the 109 to ditch but the kill message comes up as I am captured. After a <S> and some banter Wail and I reup to try to find Mitsu again.
In the end we engaged several enemy fighters. Wail brought down two (two assists for me) but I get pinged for my trouble and lose an aileron. We got overwhelmed by a 109, La7, P51, P38 and a mossie and we desperately tried to disengage. With my missing aileron I was finding it hard to stay in the fight and ended up separated from Wail who went down after taking the 109 out. I was then pursued by the La7, P51, P38 and the mossie, all of whom were at less than 1.5k.
I kept the pursuit between the trees as I desparately tried to get them to auger. In the end I reversed by blindsiding them with a mountain and started heading for home, all the while dodging bullets. The P38 and mossie gave up as I outpaced them, the P51 and La7 still hounding me. Then too, the La7 gave up as he ran out of ammo. That left the P51 following me.
I ran out of WEP and the pony began to close. As he got to D500 and began to fire I began a desperate scissors. Even though I only had one aileron, I out scissored the other plane and he had to break off. I turned for home once again, the other pony now at d1.3k and static. My heart sank though as I looked at the DAR for the field I was approaching. The counter was solid red! No green at all! As the field came into view, I saw 4 or 5 mossies circling. All the ack was down and they were vulching the field...
I flew right through the mess, even through two bomber hangars, hoping the nme pony (still on my 6) would auger. No such luck and now 4 mossies were trailing at d2.0k as well. After another few miles, all the mossies broke off, leaving me alone with the pony after me. He had closed again, this time firing at long range and pinging my radiator. I had no choice, I couldnt make it to another field! I again broke into a scissors but he was waiting for the move. He followed, forcing me slower and slower, pinging bits off me as he did. I pulled right o the edge of the stall and then beyond. My pony wallowed and try as I might I couldn't hold it. I pancaked into the ground, right into a native village.
After a <S> and some friendly banter with my pony adversary (Sax from the 13th TAS) I had to log and go to work. Not the most successful AH morning for me but definitely one of the most memorable! Sax even admitted that he became obsessed with shooting me down after I evaded the others... I will take that as a compliment.
My only regret is that I didn't film any of it! (Thus my AAR may not be 100% spot on, I'm going from memory)
<S> to all who shot me down
