Police attend house after hearing phone message

Police have gone to a house in Denmark fearing a hostage situation after listening to an answering machine message.

The Danish family's recorded greeting prompted officers to rush to the housein Gladsaxe.

The message said: "We have been taken hostage by two children. Hurry. Please bring some help after the tone."

It was recorded by homeowner Lene Becker, according to the Politiken newspaper.

But when family relatives called long distance and heard the recording, it sounded like "We have been taken hostage with two children." They called the police.

The police in Gladsaxe, a Copenhagen suburb, listened to the answering machine several times and decided to err on the side of caution.

Police cars went to the two-storey home and crept around it, using flashlights. Finally, a neighbour living on the ground floor came outside and let the four police officers into the Becker's apartment on the second floor.

The Beckers have since changed the outgoing message on their answering machine to: "We're doing fine. Please don't call the police."

Gone from the game. Please see Spikes or Nefarious for any Ahevents.net admin needs.

Those wacky danes.

Hey Santa... maybe you could leave a message saying "Desperately in search of a brunette" to see if they send an "emergency" response team over to your place.
