London (Reuters).  February 23, 1945. - In what many observers are calling a surprise move, the Allied forces in Europe this evening surrendered unconditionally to Germany.

"Frankly, we don't know why we surrendered," remarked one American infantry commander.  "You know, after this Bulge business, we really thought we had them on the run."

German sources appeared equally baffled by the news.  "We have seen nothing but two-to-one odds for the very longest time," said Unteroffizier Urchin.  "Many of my fliers are depressed after facing swarms of Allied planes over and over again."  His face brightened.  "On the other hand, we now all get medals, which in the Luftwaffe we refer to as 'perkies'."

One member of the German high command speculated, "Perhaps the Allied commanders made their decision after watching only the first hour of a 'Battle of the Bulge' rerun?"

Informed sources at SHAEF Headquarters in London, who asked not to be identified, spoke of a more sinister cause.  "It was Shane.  He was being so mean to us.  We had to end it, was all."

Surrender ceremonies are scheduled to take place in New York City next week.

So what was with that "You have won the war" message last night?  First time I ever saw such a thing in the CT.

lol, beats the hell out of me... axis was outnumbered for quite a while,  from 2-1.3:1 and yet, somehow, the allies managed to lose the war.

no idea who made the capture; if i'd have known i'd have suggested they not do that because of course right after reset you had a ton of allied lamers in 163's as well as some axis in a variety of other rides.

honestly dunno why allies wasted all evening's #'s and simply couldn't take back some bases...  maybe ever since the last BoB map, they've gotten used to hugging their own fields at 20k?

I logged on about 11 PM Eastern and everything was enabled.  I expected to see some Allieds flying some odd AC (I was LW last night), but was none to happy to be buzzed by 163's and 110's.

Why some of the CT vets would choose to spoil a setup is beyond me.

Would any of you ruin a Snapshot by rolling in an AC that was mistakenly enabled and not part of the write up?  In a TOD? CAP event? Scenario??? That kind of inconsiderate behavior from experienced players could and would in many cases land you “outside” the Special Events Arena for that event. So why would you do it to the CT staff who trying to provide us with an arena to our liking.

Thankfully pyro came in and fixed it.

I wouldn't automatically suspect the CT vets, Daddog.  There were a lot of MA refugees in the CT last night (indeed, all weekend), calling for missions, calling each other names, whining about the plane set....if the screw-up was deliberate, I know who I'd send Joe Friday to see first.  (For that matter, I still haven't heard any explanation of what it was that went wrong.)

And yet...how long we've all hoped the CT numbers would go up.  Now they're up!

nothing to "suspect" i know first hand several people who should know better doing it. and i called them out on ch1 about it. and a) got my ankle humped and b) saw their own squaddies, vets as well, supporting the decision to go the lamer route.

yes, thankfully someone got hold of pyro, who managed to fix it... if not for that.. who  knows how long it might have lasted.

fwiw, when i saw axis in "taboo" planes, i called them on it on ch 2 as well.

a noob, i can understand... but vets? regulars? noooope. simply.... lame.

LOL Oldman,
Great write up!

I was on during the reset, and didn't see it coming...  I think the Allies still had several bases, so I suspect the nuetral country lost a base or two...

I started flying the CT pretty well full time the last few weekends and may have gotten spoiled.  Generally, numbers were even and made for great fights.  Great aircraft matchups.  Great crowd.  Nice change from the MA.

This last weekend when I was flying, roster numbers were again fairly even but in the air it was typically 3 or 4:1 axis to allied.  I guess most of the allied were off in some corner of the map doing their own thing???

If this situation occurs in the MA, you can try finding a better fight in another part of the map but in the CT there is basically only one main fight because of the numbers.  If there is a numbers imbalance, you're out of luck.

In this regard, I really don't see much difference between the two arena crowds.  Neither feels too guilty about a good ol' gangbang.  Sort of disappointing.

rgr oldman. I don't know who caused the reset, but there were several CT regulars who I hold in high regard that took advantage of the situation and flew AC that were not intended by the author of this weeks CT design.

I am not one to point fingers. I prefer a broad sweep to get my point across. Certainly I have my own short comings, but it was disappointing to me to see some disregard the intention of the CT and consequently spoil it for others.

Gotta be more careful what we wish for! The numbers are good, but the MA babble was a pain.

The reason for the resets two nights in a row is simple. We have these guys with the "play free till march 15th" in the CT running around capturing bases. When asked to stop, I was greeted with the usual witty banter and basically ignored.

Shane, practice what you preach buddy. I caught you in an "unofficial ride" after the reset. ;)
