Among those present at the Tuesday press conference was Judy Garland who stated:
"The adminstration hasn't made the case for invading Europe. It was the Japanese that
attacted us two years ago. Why are we splitting our resources between Asia and Europe.
Shouldn't we concentrate on getting the Japs (sic) first.
Clark Gable added: "Frankly I'm at a loss with this president. He just hasn't made the
case for launching this attack. We have them contained in the East and in Italy. The cost
to launch an attack on this scale is just too much at this time.
Jackie Googan also present added that an attact at this juncture would most certainly
make Hitler all the more angry. "This is great way to increase Nazi recruitment."
Olivia Dehaviland, star of "Gone With the Wind." in response to reports of a new
generation of weapons that can deliver a pilotless Atom bomb capable of destroying a city
stated: "There is no proof of this, I know that Mr. Knox and General Marshal keep
harping about this but they haven't shown any evidence of the sort." Googan was quick to
add, "That's another reason, we don't want them to use those horible weapons on our
boys, or worse yet our civilian population.
Arrol Flynn just back from a trip to the Third Reich deflected criticisms of his trip stating
that despite rumors to the contrary he did not see any signs of death camps. "This trip for
me is for me was a natural extension of my obligation as a father, actor and Nazi spy, he
he just kidding, to find my own voice on matters of conscience
When questioned about our support of Great Britain Garland stated that Great Britain is
one of the four greatest violators of Human Rights on the planet. The rape of India being
just one example but also the devestation of the gentle peace loving Boars in South Africa
is another. "That who we should be fighting."
