Help with "God Mode"
« on: March 04, 2003, 11:45:16 AM »
I have never been able to set this up correctly. I have listened to a few explanations and have tried the suggestions, but to no avail.

Can someone please give me some detailed insight as to how to set this up and how to use it. I also understand that this mode is only available under certain conditions/areans. Can someone explain where we can use this.

If this is explained in detail somewhere else, I apologize, but I have not been able to find it.

The reason that I am asking for this, is in anticipation of the "Shootout Contest", and am hoping that "God Mode" will be available so that we can watch these guys mix it up.

Thanks and <>

It only works when enabled.  (Which usually means offline, h2h, or in KOTH events)

To enter the god view mode, hit F5'

Hold down directx button 2 to move forward, button 3 to move back.  While holding these buttons, your throttle controls the speed, and stick and rudders control pitch roll and yaw.  (it's like flying a real UFO)

if you dont have directx buttons mapped, you can set buttons or keys for it in the view section of the controls.

LOL.... I don't think I could begin to explain the CMEye......  I know it involves DX buttons, but then my husband, Zeb, set mine up for me....  ;)  I did a search of our CM forum to see if I could find a better explanation of it..... best I could come up with is part of a message posted by Tilt:

"Firstly however if you have "profiled" buttons 1, 2,3 beyond their std direct x functions then you may have disabled their functions within gods eye.

F5 from a tower to get full gods eye view functionality.

trigger (button 1) is look down....... press it once and you are looking down from the alt that you are at.

Holding down trigger and moving the stick you move from side to side or forwards / back wards but always looking down. Speed of movement is decided by throttle.

Holding button 2 will make you reverse at what ever speed you have the throttle...... use the rudder to turn.........

Holding button 3 will make you go forward at what ever speed you have the throttle...... use the rudder to turn....... and JS for pitch.............

I beleive the max speed is mach 6 and it is all to easy to leave the map and enter the blue haze of infinity if not careful........."

Hope it helps.  ;)

Innom and Flossy ... thanks for the response.

I will try this out offline when I get home. Not sure about the directx button stuff as described, but will give it a go.

Flossy ... I know that you and Zeb have the Cougar and so do I. Is this mapped in your tm files, and if so, can I get a look at them ?

Also, are you guys now running some of ULF's code that he eluded to in another post ?

I did have the CMEye set up on my Cougar but, unfortunately, Zeb recently updated the programming (it matched his except for this one thing) and he forgot to modify mine again.  I basically used to put the Dog Fight button in the out position, and that enabled DX keys on the bomb, fire and pinky buttons.  I keep intending to ask Zeb to reprogram my stick again.  If I remember, I will ask him tomorrow and let you know then.  :)

Zeb has been testing some of Ulf's stuff, but I haven't yet.  Once he gets this bug sorted out we will hopefully get his final version and I will try it then.  I don't want to get too confused by continually trying new setups!  :D

Thanks again Flossy for the response.

Well ... I got it to work using the "I" key to go forward ... all the rest of the functions worked on the stick, pedals and throttle.

I would like to use the trigger to replace the "I" key ... gonna have to experiment.

Please be sure to post something somewhere when ULF releases his files.

Erm.. what if you use a heavily customised setup, and so few of the keys (notably including F5) do something other than the default?

I also have never been able to get CM Eye mode to work (I would like to use it offline). I can't even see anything in teh setup doodad that lets one assign a key to "enter CM Eye mode". Is it a case of if you mess with the F5 keys default mapping you've had it?

I haven't messed with any of the "F" keys, but I found that my F5 is mapped in the "View Keys" as "View mode fixed". I would imagine that you could try to find another key to map to that function and that should start CM Eye for you.
