I wanted this since day one.  most of the handles are unpronouncable and a keystroke six call is the better choice.

Thank all of you who stay off range vox.

Can we have one more voice channel?  Thats important for the sessions inside squadrons.  More important than range channel.

I beleive that HT would be foolish to allow range channel mute because it would reduce the community feel that you get in the game.  Sure there have been times (many times), when I'd like the option, but they are usually very brief and not too hard to deal with.

What I would like to see is SQUAD/TUNED channel having total 100% no questions asked priority over range channel....range channel and tune channel at the same time...BAM....tunable channel wins...period

Just stay out of range of Dago, and you won't have to hear him sing.  (That's what HE calls it, anyway......)

range channel mute ...  would reduce the community feel

My fondest hope is that "community feel" will be reduced.

Alternatively HTC could impose a minimum MA entrance requirement that both age and IQ exceed 12.  This would solve the range channel pollution problem.

If they needed both age & IQ to be over 12 I wouldn't have a Training Arena full of
Hooked on Phonics retro types.

Errr wait a sec, that would be COOOL!

Carry on sir!

Alf,

Worth noting, voice comms is a rather new addition to flight sims. Yet the sims themselves have existed in one form or another since the late 80's, and communities have grown and thrived well within them, using only a keyboard and monitor to communicate.

I wouldn't say that voice is the cause, but one thing I do notice is that the "community" one interacts with in AH MA today is a lot less, er, friendly, than any I've know. That's not the fault of anyone or anything, only an acknowledgement that as the environments get larger one is more likely to find personal conflicts. Thus having the ability to mute freely and liberaly, over ALL forms of comms (i.e. persistant squelch, voice mute, range mute, secondary priv channels, etc), is a requirement that grows in importance proportionate to ones size.

AH is long past the point of needing some of these more robust filtering tools. These would add more to the health of the community, and betterment of the game, than any plane set addition, flight model change, etc.
