On behalf of those of us in the UK who believe that the US is doing the right thing, I'd like to apologise for the cluelessness of some of our politicians.

I'll make two observations though:

Firstly, there's nothing stopping UK planes flying the UN-approved no-fly zones, thus releasing American planes to other tasks. And we can take on logistics work for the US too.

Secondly, the British public does not like a divided party, and many Labour MPs have slim majorities. Many will lose their seats at the next election. Serves them right.

Is it "clueless" to ignore the wishes of the vast majority of your constituents?

Are the no-fly zones really "UN approved"?

Aren't the Labour Party's troubles because of their siding with Bush? In that case I think it's probably misplaced to say it "serves them right".

Obviously not being called to participate in opinion polls - they're in hiding.

Cant blame them these days however, its become more fashionable to follow the raghead than the chimp.

Who said anything about "anti-american"?

And being against a particular American.... uhm... person/place/thing.... doesn't make anyone anti-American.

If you are a professional politician only interested in maintaining high poll numbers for the next election cycle, then you follow your constituents' opinions. If you are a world leader who has to make unpleasant decisions based on geopolitical events, then you do your best to bring your constituents along with you.
