the first gulf war was a media blitz war, no question. But it was rather sterile on the TV sets back home. There were a few images of toasted Iraqi soldiers and some fuzzy night vision video of MG fire on foot soldiers. But we mostly saw smart bomb footage from alt.  This time, we know the plan for the Iraqis is for urban combat, they aren't that stupid as to take on our military in the open desert again. There will be US causalties..but many times more in Iraqi causalties.

at what point do you think we will have had enough US killed and wounded? 100? 300?

it will probably be another royal bellybutton kicking, but we will still lose some soldiers.

I don't think it'll come to that. I think most will surrender as soon as it's clear we're going all the way.

Even if many fight back I doubt it'll take more than a week or two to topple Hussein. Haven't you guys seen those guns that shoot around corners?

i doubt it will be a long war, but the occupation will be brutal. suicide bombers and fundamentalist wackos will be out in force in that country.

I agree and yet I still think the media will find some footage of crying children to broadcast 24/7

We really need to have israeli counseling on what to expect and how to defend, and they(our government and our allies governments) had better pull a rabbit out of their bellybutton for stability and withdrawl plans.

well, the media will have a sweeps year, cause right after Iraq, comes North Korea..

as an aside on the media.. watching cnn this morning, I've noticed that they are stroking themselves even harder with even more and frequent dramatic lead-in music about the 'possible war'

I dont think so. Saddam never was a "good" muslim in the fundamentalistic way. Yes he has supporters in palestina but the hardcore muslims dont like him. Furtheron there are many Iraqis that are against his bloody dictatorship. Time will tell and thats the dangerous part of this war.

instruction for igniting middle east:

light up iraq.

get away.
The price of Freedom is the willingness to do sudden battle, anywhere, any time and with utter recklessness...

...at home, or abroad.
