Squadron AO's?

I think Sakai may have hit upon something here that would spice up the CT....

SAKAI said: I was thinking about this very thing. I was wondering if some setups could not have "squadron areas" to enhance matchups. Like one sector patrolled predominantly by Hurris, another by P-40 squadrons, etc.

What I often see is not squadron type engagements but people "gaming" the CT by getting one-two punchers (Yaks and La-5/7s anyone? or Wildcats/Corsairs) on a one dimensional foe...

Can this be done, where traditional foes would be more likely to meet each other in certain Areas of Operation (AO)?  I mean, if the CT crew can make planes available only at certain fields, then why not try it out for a week or so?

Might just catch on, ya think?

Maybe?

Certainly worth a try.  Bound to be a few who ferry their planes to other bases (like they're doing now with P40s), but if the intent is made clear, most will comply.

Hey, we've tried limited lives, why not this?

Sounds interesting. Would surely be more historical. You would have to arrange it across the front line or some squads in the background might never see action with their a/c.

If you had a big enough map (like the Big European one we have) you could use the three country system to make a two front war. US & English planes from the West, Germans in the middle, and the Russians from the East.

Just keep it Axis vs. Allied.

not sure how 'real' this would be for the pacific.  p39s p40s f4fs f4us were all in the same place depending on the island, and boats nearby.

i understand the frustration of 'two punch' tactics, but it is nice to have that f4u over head and fast when your in the f4f.

Good idea, but then again is using the one two punch gaming the game. I hate being in an A6M2 and having to fight F4F's and F4U's but Erg is right they were used together, along with P-38's, P-40s, and P-39s. You also had the Luftwaffe using 109's to counter escorts while 190A8s tried to get to the bombers. So is it really gaming the game? As much as I hate being the victim of the one two punch, it has it's historical merits.
