NYTimes reports that LAV's of the 1st Marine Div. ran into 2 Iraqi apc's across the border and destroyed them.

American ground forces have fired on Iraqi positions in southern Iraq. Dozens of artillery shells were fired and explosions were reported in the direction of the Iraqi city of Basra, Reuters news agency eyewitnesses said. Gavin Hewitt reports from his position with the US troops on the Iraq-Kuwait border.
