The part that pisses me off is that every CHP and SFPD is tied up getting these doofuses out of the streets. Meanwhile we know that there are Al Qaeda and other terrorist organizations planning attacks in the US. I think our police have better things to do than cleaning hippie scum off the streets.

They should figure out the costs of police and all the overtime involved, divided it by the number of idiot protest scum arrested that day, and let that be their fine. If they don't have the resources to pay the fine that would run in the 1000s, let them work it off with public service or sit it out in jail.

Dowding they aren't just protesting, they are destroying property, sitting down in the middle of busy intersections and setting up barricades.

No, I dont think they should be fined for protesting - thats wierd..

However they should hold them accountable for the property damage. Id say that the big money protest organizers should be sued like the KKK was for inciting violence against blacks - they got sued and all their funds were taken away. Basically the protest oranizers are doing the same thing by creating an atosphere of anger towards america and especially business interests, they do not need to issue specific orders for vanadlism to be held accointable as was shown in the KKK trials.
