Fighter or not Fighter, that is the question!
« on: March 28, 2001, 03:13:00 AM »
At first I want to apologise, because I'm sure that my Topic had been discussed earlier.

Every time I want to make my next flight, I look on the map to decide which will be my next target.

When there is an airfield with no red bar, I go to the hangar, put some bomb(s) to the plane,
Click on ATTACK for the points and start my Jabo-mission. The moment I reach the field ,
three red icons circle over my target zooming  for my best side.  So I drop my bombs on nothing
to get some speed for the dogfight and I have my fast and agile fighter back.

When there is an airfield with a big red bar, I go to the hangar, put no bomb(s) or rockets to the plane,
Click on FIGHTER  for the points and start my Hunting-mission. The moment I reach the field ,
only green icon are around me, because all my beloved enemy decided to run for the other side of the MA.
So I start to strafe acks and other buildings.

I heard once that I score no or less points as a fighter for strafing ground objects. If so, why is it like this?
In AH a fighter is just a Jabo without bombs or rockets.

Or is this just a special feature for european players to give them the usual feeling of bureaucratism?!
(What? You strafed buildings without form 23A/0815  in three copies?? NO POINTS!!)

Can somebody share his wisdom on that?

I shared same problem with ya.
Once, in a "fighter" mission near enemy CV I managed to kill more than 10 PTs, just for nothing (but fun).

they are recorded under different Stats (check your Stats you'll see both points for Attack & for Fighter)

Simple answer, Do you really want someone to earn fighter perk points by unloading a pair of 1,000 lbs on a hanger?

Hmmm, there are fighter, bomber and vehicle perk points. But no attack perk points. Don't we receive any for attack mission or are they splitted between bomber and fighter ppoints??

But its also a problem at the scoring system, where you get no points for GV and buildings as a fighter.

I see sometimes C-Hogs circling over a field saving their ammo for fighters, while a lonely 190 goes for the acks.
I do not think that AH had this in mind, when they added the Attack type.
The AC have the same ammo and performance as fighter or attacker, so why the different scores?

That is a question of dweebness, not scoring...  I think everyone sees that happen.
