Dowding it seems pretty clear this thing was an unfortuante accident if you read the eywitness statemts on palsolidary.org , which is the website of these activits. Basically they admit how they played games with the bulldozers going so far as to climb on the blades while it was moving. Apparently it seems this woman climbed up on the blade but somehow managed to fall off or fall to the ground and ended up under the blade.

Interestingly enough the palsolidarity.com website took down the picture of rachel that it had up before. Guess they found out it kinda pissed people of and showed their angelic anti-hate peace martyr in a bad light.

Grunherz - there are people advocating using bulldozers against people. No matter what the circumstances, those pictures demonstrate the consequences. I don't find it funny, witty or clever.

She didn't deserve to die. And neither do these war protesters.

As the Cavalry officer says in Apocalypse Now,

Of course she did not deserve to die. But if you take the chances that she and her friends repeatedly took in playing their games with bulldozers, then its gonna happend sooner or later.

As for the other protestors, I would prefer hand greanades or a particulary devious palestenian suicide bomber.

You're not getting it, Grunherz. The issue isn't whether or not the incident was an accident or not, it's the fact that people are wishing the same fate on a whole bunch of other people. That's a bit toejamty.

Is that so? So hoping that people get bull-dozed is the same as not buying into an idea that the West is suddenly ultra-sensitive to humanitarian issues, after years of support of despots and maniacs who we set-up in the first place?

Come on, Vulcan. The whole humanitarian thing is a political ploy. It was politically expedient to back Saddam in the 80's to reach strategic goals, allowing him to repress, murder and build WMD, and it's politically expedient to call this a moral war against a despotic dictator because he likes to repress, murder and build WMD.

Different strategic goals, same political reasoning.

I'm glad Saddam will be gone, but resent the constant course changes that have led to this situation.

I do feel sorry for her. As I've stated before, I agree with protesting. I agree with a person's right to make themselves heard. I respect those people that do it without infringing upon my rights.

Does my blood boil when I drive past the anti war protestors at Harvard? Sure, but it is only because I feel strongly about MY side of the issue. It has nothing to do with the person holding the sign. It's the people in the financial district (in my city) that I have no respect for. They feel that in order to get their voice out, they must be linking hands and standing in the middle of the road. Sorry, I just don't agree with that. People cheered as they were dragged off to jail. I can't say I blame them.

That being said, people that jump on bulldozer blades to get their point across are playing a dangerous game. I, for one, wouldn't give my life for that cause.

Dowding... you have a propensity for entering an argument early.. confronting people with a really BS aproach and then criticizing them for their reaction.

Blocking highways and streets is stupid. Sorry you disagree, but it is. Its simply saying "We've had our say... but we're pissed that not enough people agree... so we're going to piss them off." There have been numerous demonstrations in regards to the war... these have gone way above and beyond.

Unless you see news footage of someone from this BBS actually running over a protestor, the rest of your reaction commentary is just as BS as your initial post.
