Ripsnort, unfortunately thats not totally true.  Whoever murdered that Sikh man in Phoenix under the impression that his turban meant he was an Arab right after 9/11 did our cause no good.  But it's true that the organized elements of disruption seem to line up mainly on the left, possibly because those causes seem to get more sympathetic media treatment when behaving this way.

I think some people have trouble with any authority and do not need much to protest against something they know little about.

We have had a lot of demonstrations in the UK over the past few days which school kids & students bunking off lessons to make there voice heard. Most have degenerated into complete chaos. Would have been interesting to see how many would have turned up if it had been organised outside of "school time" (Or am I just getting synical in my old age Yep thst must be it  ).

My God.

- breaking the law
- forcing their will on others
- concerned only with their own agendas.
- destroying others property

What kind of role models do these kids have?

It is and it is not a complex issue..

in pro-war people's eyes it can look bad, but then again do they either notice "nicely" protesting people?

Blocking streets is something between protesting and a riot.
Riot is the extreme...
When alot of people are rioting, it means something is badly messed up.
So if alot of people goes to block streets, you could say that something is not only wrong.

I'll stop running down protesters in the street when I can legally sit in your living room if I don't like the color of your tie.

ya so much for the old Ghandi approach.

I won't be suprised if some of these "peaceniks" get run over by vehicles while they are beating up someone's family.

heard they arrested 1025 of them so far, they need to just keep going and get those criminals off of the streets.

they want to hold signs and talk that's fine, they start damaging property, hurting people, disrupting commerce, they need to be in jail with the rest of their ilk.

give them all tickets to france and be done with em.

Hell, they could even take to the streets if they just made the effort to obtain a permit with the city and plan a route.

Blocking traffic hurts (if only temporarily) local economies and is more apt to incite anger against their cause rather than sympathy.  But it sure is an effective way of drawing attention; and the media.

I think the real question is:  Why can't these people think up something positive and creative to get their message across?

or

How many drove their SUV's to the protest?  That would make great news copy!

Kanth,

Gandhi united the people, not the goverments.
