Whos to say what would have happened if the Vietnam was fully prosecuted?  But it wasn't Ho Chi Minh killing millions of people, it was Pol Pot.

Palace is a parking lot now

Saddam Hussein's presidential palace is reported to be ablaze after witnesses reported seeing about a dozen missiles slam into the sprawling residence. Some news reports say about 25 buildings already have been destroyed.

Naso, as anti-war as I am once the battle is joined I hope, and pray, for a quick conclusion to the conflict with a minimal loss of civilian and military lives. We have gone to great extremes to ensure our targets in Baghdad are generally unoccupied Government buildings attacked late at night.

If these buildings and military targets we're bombing hasten the end of this war then hell yes, I'm cheering my lungs out when these buildings explode.

I hear that the Ministries of Pain and Fear, and Lies and Deception, were flattened :)

Seriously, they are apparently running series of missiles and bombs on single targets, hoping to dig down to the level of the leadership bunkers.

. . . . Arabs understand that, after hundreds of years of territorial warring, we're providing the one thing that can provide an end to  it. That's right, a common enemy!

hey Saudi Arabia Kuwait Turkey and Jordan are giving us overflight rights at the very least, and I dont think Syria and Iran are all that sad to see the last of Saddam either.  That's 6 out of 6 of his neighbors.

I'm really sad.

Can't you open your eyes and see!!! US is not freeing anyone. THEY ARE KILLING PEOPLE! Iraquis have done nothing to you.

After last time it was over 100000 dead iraquis (and even more civilians starved to death after war.)

This time it will be much  more.

You talk about democracy to iraq?

Majority of Iraquis are shiites, so fair democratic election would result an islamic republic like Iran.

This wouldnt be accepted by Saudi Arabia or any of Iraqs neighbours excluding Iran.  Sunnites simply wouldn't accept this. (If you wonder why, you should read a little of middle easts history.)

Also the USA and GB cant give the kurdish minority more rights, because of Turkey. Turkey does all it can to prevent Kurds from getting independence.

What happens in Iraq in future will be murder and chaos.

Iraq has historically been almost as secular as Turkey, despite the 60% Shia affiliation of the population.  It actually had a functioning parliament before the Ba'athist coup in 1958, I recall reading

Can't you understand?

1,000,000 Iraqis starved after the first gulf war because the Money from the Food for Oil program went into rebuilding Saddams military, Palaces, etc.

Saddam Hussein has more Iraqi blood on his hands than the US could get in 10 years of fighting!

You just don't get it, do you?

We're eliminating a butcher, and freeing a people.

It's regretful if civilians die. But many more would die in the torture chambers, prisons, and execution chambers if we sat on our hands and did nothing, as per the norm for the UN.

We're making up for a 12 year old mistake.

Go back to your popcorn and widescreen TV with surroundsound and don't miss the show on CNN.

Better yet, go to iraq and sit on the receiving end of that show, should be better for ya

:o

I will, in fact be watching my television tonight.  Am I to feel guilty for watching CNN now?  Thats rich.  Which high school teacher informed you that its not proper behavior to watch a war on television?

As for me going to Baghdad, Im not currently wearing a uniform, and the only American civilians in the region are either reporters or human shields.

Since I possess niether plastic personality, or excessive amounts of stupidity, Ill keep my distance.

When are you planning on putting your money where your mouth is?  Why arent you in Washington telling President Bush that he's a babykiller?  Or better yet, jumping on one of the round trip flights to Baghdad that the Air Force is offering?  Im sure they could arrange to drop you exactly where you could do the most good.

Perhaps you could convince Saddam that you hate Bush, and maybe he wouldnt shoot you on sight because of the language you speak.

You waste your time drawing distinctions between who is worthy of attack and who is not.  If you do not understand why we are engaged in hostilities in Iraq, you really need to do a little more research.  Once you figure out why we are doing this, Ill be glad to accept your apology for being such an ignorant fool.

In the meantime, Im going to watch our boys advance towards Baghdad.  I hope they show Saddam a really good time, and I hope they do it with some good old fashion American flair.
