A new model for fuel?
« on: March 24, 2003, 09:08:41 AM »
At the moment we have 25-125% fuel. To me, this simply doesn't seem right. After all, a Lanc on 25% fuel holds more fuel than a C205 on 100%. Equally different tanks within the same aircraft hold different amounts

So how about dividing fuel instead into main tank (as the base level ie instead of 25% fuel), auxiliary tanks,  wing tanks, and drop tanks? The last three would be seperately damagable strat targets. This would have the advantage of adding variety to the planes upped as some planes lack certain internal tanks.

Actually,a 25% fuel base is a basically a field with only P51s, N1K2s, Zekes, Ta152s and bombers available. IMO, bombers should be the first planes to be affected by the lack of fuel in a field, not the fighters.

There is definetly a need to rework fuel porkage

I love the strategic aspect of fuel, but without a change, it is just gaming the game, and is far too easy for a few determined jabos to pork all of one countries forward bases.  This in turn leads to a huge nunber of P51 and Nik2 pilots and a complete dearth of variety.

Its also pretty stupid that a bomber can take 25% of a few thousand gallons, but a Spit/La7cant take a few hundred.

Im not sure of any solution taht isnt worse than the problem.  Maybe if there were many more numerous fuel depos, and they rebuild more quickly, with some other strategic target to retard the rebuild time....I duno
