On the british news today there was a woman who was forced to flee Iraq after her brother was arrested talking about her veiws on the war.I at first tried to understand where she was coming from but i found myself getting more and more angry.
Here was a woman who, due to the government of her country has had to flee and try to start a new life elsewhere. She chose England.A western Democracy, a place where she is free to state her veiws, and what does she say?
'This war is immoral', she fears that the only people the war will hurt is innocent Iraqi people. She hates Saddam Hussain, she has lost family mambers to his regeme she must therefore realise just what a danger he could be to the world and now she is actually marching in Anti-war rallies!
What does this woman damn well want from us? She uses us in her time of need, we allow her to stay, give her a home and a fresh start, we try to help rid her country of its dictorial and evil leader, possibl making it safe for her to return, we promise to help Iraq in the aftermath and help Iraq keep its armies and territories even! We do everything within our power to NOT harm civillians, spend billions getting rid of someone who should have been removed by her OWN people. We didnt want the damn war any more than she did but Saddam has used his power to try to destroy our whole way of life by funding the terrorists of many factions and he poses a threat more dangerous to western society than anyone for a hundreds of years (if you consider the possible use of biological weapons) but still she wants us to stop!??!
Well id like to ask her what EXACTLY she wants us to do? Do these people expect us to sit and wait until Saddam is powerfull enough to fund attacks on our major cities? Do these people not feel the utter disgust and true loss of something human when they attacked western democracies with the sept 11th attack?
Surely she must see the urgency of this situation? We hope to stop him developing these weapons but due to the fact we just dont know what his regime is up to we have to assume he has them or is on the verge of it.
Its DAMN WELL SIMPLE.Saddam Hussain MUST GO. If the Iraqi people dont/wont/cant do it then as gaulling and unwanted as war is to us we just have to do it ourselves. Civilians in Iraq are the victims here of course and I know i cant fully comprehend jus what they have had to go through over the last 30 odd years during saddams rule but what I do know is if he killed my family Id want him dead.I would do whatever it took to get rid of him and if I couldnt do it in my own country Id be damn well gratefull there were countries with enough moral fibre to help like the US and UK and the other countries. Not only that but they promise to help rebuild my country??
Damn it, Id be gratefull I was alive, gratefull Id been given a new home, Gratefull someone outside of my country actually cares enough to help, tries its utmost to avoid killing civilians and promises to even protect my countries borders afterwards.
After all that I think Id make sure i wasnt seen on those countries television calling them immoral war mongers.
you know what my reaction was? for the first time in many many years I had a racist reaction.I thought to myself 'If you dont like us being involved then f*ck off back to your own country and dont bring your problems here! Go protest in Iraq and stop taking our help in one hand and stabbing us in the back with the other.Bloody Iraqi's!!!'
bunch of hypocritical ingrates. I realise all countries use and abuse each other and she must fear motives behind this war but for gods sake its the ONLY chance her country has of becoming a free democracy where she and her FAMILY can live without being MURDERED by their state. whats wrong with these people?
