Is this instant coverage really helpful at all? All I can see when I decide to watch this garbage is nothing but a silly reporter stuffed in the back of a humvee giving his assumptions on what is going on around him at the moment only to have to spend time rehashing what he reported minutes ago once he learned what really happened just to find out something else is about to occur and we have to... oh look... there're flashes on the horizon.......

They make such a joke out of it, I'd rather see that fella who had the skit in the old comedy show "Fridays" tell what is going on with his army man collection. I'd take that more seriously.

Freakin civilians, calling M113's Bradley tanks, talking about reactive armor on our Bradleys that explode to deflect ak47 rounds, and the talking head squeakes in the newsrooms get the complimentary side shot shaking their heads in agreement and looking oh so concerned.

And where do they dig up all these ex-retired-wanna be armchair generals/majors/colonels/ad nauseum to give thier professional opinions on how the war is progressing and what we can expect to come...

Damnit its a war, we will have our soldiers killed, wounded, and captured and we will kill, wound, and capture their soldiers and unfortunately kill and wound their civilians in the process.

If this is the same crap that happened in Gulf War One then I am surely glad to have been over there instead of having to sit  through this nonstop blabbering of knownothings.

Ahhh, I feel better now.

From what I understand it was done alot better in '91, altho I never saw it because, like you, I was there.

I'm getting pretty frustrated with these media. Absolutely no freaking idea what they are talking about just spewing out bull****..

the camera's perspective more often than not it seems is angled at dirt, someone's bellybutton or the sky...

The questions being asked and the commentary is just moronic...

It's frustrating because I want to know how we're doing but the television seems to be 98% fluff with the rest being marginally informative, yet possibly incorrect.

oh I almost forgot, the inspirational viewing of a flower in the desert for about a minute while stuff was going on OR the camera man filming another guy who was filming (so we're sitting around watching video of some guy holding a camera) for a while..DURING a firefight.

What's funny is how the POWs are treated like some hostage situation in downtown LA, or the 101 traitor like some disgruntled postal worker. It's almost mind boggling. I suppose the saving grace is that there is so little other news to report on in the battle that these incidents become "disasters" and "shocking" -- not that they aren't at a very personal level for family, friends and fellow soldiers. But it's hard to think of a military disaster in war time and not be aware of, say, the first day of the Somme or the attack on the Marine barracks in Beruit.

Let's hope it stays this way.

I miss "The Scud Studs." I thought they were a Saturday Night Live comedy sketch whenever the air raid siren would go on.

It's fully understandable. The soldiers are shooting at eachother, and the news teams are learning from them by watching them. And in effect "shoot" at eachoter, too.
