LOL! Boxboy, it may just be time to say WTF! And reformat/reinstall WinXP ;)

My experience with it, is that XP is very finicky once something goes wrong, and its hard to get at all the hidden settings and fix them.  Win2k wasn't like that, so I'm not sure why WinXP is that way. A royal pain in the hind quarters.

Boxboy your HD speed has no effect in the fps you get in game. If you get a faster hd it will start faster, but after that its just the same.

If your fps stays over 60 at all times, it's good enough anyway and I wouldn't worry about it.

Saif i thought so but wasnt sure if it would be reading graphics info or sumthing.

Skuzzy i look into the IRQ stuff
It was sharing IRQ 11 with the sound card - so i moved the sound card but i still need to repair window today with my newly reaquired Win XP disc so once i get that fixed ill let ya know whats going on!

I dont know why, but for some reason I hated XP from the first second I saw it.. The feeling just gets stronger with time.

Completely opposite to what I experienced with W2k.

Sound and vide card sharing IRQ's is one of the worst IRQ sharings possible.  Causes all kinds of maladies.

Well i got the sound card switched to a better slot.
Wipe C drive and been trying to reistell XP.
Since i can find my original disc i stole on from work , the problem its a Dell XP OS.
I installed it directly off the CDrom drive and now it keeps giving me different errors and BSOD's
I know its probably somthing imbedded in that damn Dell CD cause my system AINT NO DELL DUDE.
So i guess i need to find a straight up Copy of XP PRO.

Well after 10-15 tries reinstalling winXP
setting up all the drivers for the mobo and basic stuff
then istalling for the ATI9700 using the and catalyst 3.2 drivers
I can to the conclusion that it wont work!
After 3 or so reboot the ATI stuff crashed the system everytime making me randomly reboot then finally not boot at all!

I pulled the card slipped in my Gforce 2 reinstalled and every thing is fine.

I have no idea what the problem is ?

any one else have this problem?

Boxboy didn't tell if he got a 'clean' copy or not.

It's essential that the OS is not from any brand computer, they have made several modifications which assure the cd won't work in any other brand setup.

Get a normal copy of W2k SP2 or XP SP1, format c: and reinstall the OS. If the 9700 is still not working, you have a hardware problem.
