I was at a Hockey game the other night where the Florida Panthers were playing the Ottawa Senators... As is customary when we're playing a Canadian team, they sing Canada's National Anthem first, followed by the American anthem. This process is reversed when an American Team plays in Canada.

At any rate, I was watching a game on TV a few days earlier and heard Canadians booing our U.S. National Anthem. I of course was insulted and felt no small amount of anger. I was furious.

Then at the Hockey game I attended, the retaliatory boos rung out when Canada's National Anthem was being performed. I never felt so embarrassed in my life. As angry as I was when I heard the Canadians boo our Anthem, I felt nothing but shame when we returned the favor.

I then looked behind me and saw a couple with a sign that read "We are Canadian, and we support the troops". I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one who was ashamed by these stupid antics on both sides.

God Bless our Troops and grant them an extra measure of whoop-ass for Sadam.

America is at war....you are in a large room with a bunch of people who paid money to see one team defeat another, to see the brawls that break out, ect....and you didn't expect anyone to return the favor after they had been wronged?

Don't get me wrong... If the guy next to me was bashing our National Anthem, I'd give him a quick poke in the chops... But I still wouldn't boo his national anthem :-)

Ya I seen that. My apologies on behalf of all Montrealers, except those few. There is a group of french nationalists up here who even boo our anthem, their goal in life is to see the breakup of our country. I ve had many a run in with that type, the next time I do ,I'll dedicate that specific 'poke in the chops' to you Grim.

If i'm at a game and see one of em boo, I'll choke him till the anthem is over, hope he can hold his breath or that it's not one of them long slow versions of the anthem.hehehe.

Respect has NOTHING to do with a political opinion, after all, how much is a political opinion worth from a person of no moral values?

Many Canadians are guilty of what many Americans were guilty of pre 9-11

complacency and the belief that the rest of the world will leave you alone if you just keep to yourself.

Sooner or later that will end. Let's hope it doesn't take something like the WTC attacks to wake them up.

Well, the most stupid thing about it is that over half our players here in Florida are from Canada... The fans were booing their anthem, then cheering them on later... LOL

No silly, we live in Igloos. It never gets warm enough to grow straw:(

I'd tell ya about the rest of our dwellings history, but the last time I talked about 'wigwams' and 'teepees' my shrink said it made me too 'tents'.
