OK i havent been with AH long only about 3 months so if this has been discused before sorry for operning old wounds

Any plans in the near future to include vapor trails on the aircraft?

For example anyone playing B17 the mighty 8th will know how cool a squadren of bombers look trailing vapor behind them.

Also fighter would look darn sexy trailing vapor of wingtips when they pull G's.

Any idears if this is to be intergrated at some time?

This is just an "ooo aaahhh" effect, does nothing to enhance the gameplay and other features that would be better to implement.

That only occurs under certain atmospheric conditions.

Dux brought it up before in Gameplay forum, I think Contrails would be fairly easy to implement, as one poster noted, its easily done with leaking fuel, project the 'leak' behind the aircraft about 1/4 of a mile.

As for the ooooh aaaa effect, you could argue that vapor trails on high alt bombers could give you a more accuate idea of whats up. ie direction, speed, size, not to mention that its just easier to spot a trail then to spot a spot.

But i think it would be a waist of time for HTC to do because there are so many other better things they are working on.

for now if you want trials just drop a tab before you log....

agree with hog. Many times i've tried to set up a striaght head on pass on a bomber only to find im coming 30 degress off to the side. Contrails would make that easier especially in scenatois with the 3k icons.

The altitude at which vapor trails formed was a major consideration in planning the bomber raids during WWII.

frame rate hit would outweigh the eye candy benefit, anyone else take a fr hit on the new clouds this tour ?

I disagree on the framerate hit.  Low impact IMHO.

It is needed because of the way contrails work and the realism and effect they have in any game. SDOE had them - worked real well in determining how high an enemy aircraft is coming in and how fast as it did in real life during World War II.

With all the talk about getting rid of DAR, it would be a good compromise.

IMO the framerate hit would be minimal.

1)It's very similar to smoke from an AC that just intercepted my 30mm.

2)Typically, there aren't as many AC near the buff in question... less impact on FR.

3)Buffs that create contrails would be at an altitude that would be far from the ground.. I.E. away from aa (that detracts from FR), etc...

I'm all for it...the frame rate hit i get from a bomber with all engines smoking is not even noticable...even on my system.

and as regurge said...it would be very usefull in setting up head on passes.

I'm all for it. Dogfights will look cool, and the contrail will be able to judge the alt of the fight from far.

Imagine how cool it would be to sneak a FW190 up the contrails of a B17 and then bam!bam!bam!  Scratch one buff!

If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Which are very common.
It's in a lot of gun cam footage and it looks very cool.  I would definitely like to see it here.
