Default Attack Planes to Attack Scores
« Reply #15 on: March 31, 2003, 04:41:49 PM »
If I take ordnance, it's an attack mission. If I'm in a clean fighter for hunting or escort (usually a perked ride) then it's fighter. I've gotten kills in GVs in my 205, and been rewarded handsomely in perkage because of it. Maybe the scoring is porked in my favor,m who knows?

Yes, some of actually DO run escort missions...but I suppose if you're in the running for ranking and temporary glory   then it means something.

I just like to land my craft, kills per mission is secondary. Most guys run from co alt engamenents anyway.

MOSQ,

You are right.  If the All category is selected and you change P-51B to Attack; then select the Fighter category with the P-51B highlighted, P-51B changes to Fighter.  If you then select another plane (P-51D for example) and then re-select the P-51B, scoring changes back to Attack.

I only hope that whatever button -- Fighter or Attack -- is depressed at the time of launch, that is indeed how the sortie will be scored.

I would prefer the fighter / attack buttons removed....... and any fighter loaded with bombs or air to ground rockets automatically attributed to the attack score ...............

or

as you suggest let it default to the column chosen (lose the list "all" button) and disable bombs and air to ground rockets when the fighter column is chosen.

Also the IL2-m3 and Ju 87 D (to name but 2) are  IMHO  pure attack AC not  bombers.  I suppose I gain this from the definition of attack being ground attack.

Mosq:
I recently began flying the P-47, and this last camp was wondering why my scores were showing so few fighter kills. It tuned out, when I picked the P-47 (regardless of loading it with ord or not) the default was to attack. And yes, I wanted to fly an evidently attack designated plane as a fighter, and had to make sure I manually made my choice so that it would register properly. I learned that I have to pay attention or, not give a watermelon :)

Don,
The obvious solution is if you click on Fighters, the score should default to Fighter.
If you click on Attackers, the score should default to Attack.
Why it's not this way is beyond me.  I have yet to see an explanation from HTC.....
