More IJ planes needed despirately
« on: April 04, 2003, 01:00:34 AM »
The IJ players are being forced to fly from a very limited selection of planes. HTC needs to model some uber IJ planes (preferably ones that can easily outclass F4U-1s, FM2s and F6Fs). F4Us and F6Fs will be held hostage and not be included in CT PAC maps until this happens.

Add more IJ planes.

Disclaimer: IJ players are welcome to post in this thread as well.

HTC is aware they need to add more IJ planes.  And they know the community would like them.   The last thread I saw about adding the Ki.84 exceeded 200 posts I think, and there were many other Ki.84 request threads before that.

Be patient-- who knows what the next 2 or 3 years may bring.

Just doing my job to support the cause, oboe. Karnak says it's not supporting the cause unless you start your own individual thread.

np, Arlo!   My reply is supposed to be dark humor, but I guess I missed the mark.   2 or 3 years is forever IMO.  ;) :(

If the Japanese plane set had these 5 models this would round out the plane set quite nicly

  1) G4M "Betty" for an early war bomber already have a late war one

  2) Ki-44 This would give those who fly a zeke all the time somthing else to fly.

  3) Ki-45 This would give the plane set an ok ground attack plane

  4) Ki-84 This would give the set a decent ride to counter the late war planes of other countries frequently seen in the MA.

  5) Ki-102 with the 57mm cannon this would solidify the ground attack portion of the plane set.

I agree with keyapaha, these would all be great additions. Just adding my .02 cents to the pile.

First off, I'm going to have to plead ignorance of the various IJ designations.

Second, I support the expansion of the IJ plane set.  As the chief adversary in the Pacific, IJ should have more than 2 Zeroes, 2 other fighters, a dive bomber, and a level bomber.

Third, it helps to put a face to a name (so to speak) so here they are:

I'd want the Jm2 Raiden before the Shoki myself.

And if you ad the Ki-102 with the Mellon-Gun, it'd be nice to have merchant ships to blow to hell :)

I'm looking forward to AH2, for the inclusion of some of these planes... otherwise the Pacific story will never get past the early Carrier Battles.

I'm surprised the Raiden isn't already in the plane set.

Is it possible to destroy those barges that appear in the Trinity map from time to time?

Model Mitsubishi J2M3
Engine 1 x Mitsubishi MK4R-A Kasei 23a
1,820hp 14 cylinder radial
Max. Speed 380 mph 612 Km/h
Max. Range 655 Mls 1,055 Km
Empty Weight 5,675 lbs 2,574 Kg
Loaded Weight 7,573 lbs 3,435 Kg
Span 35 / 5.25 Ft/in 10.8 m
Length 31 / 9.75 Ft/in 9.7 m
Height 12 / 6 Ft/in 3.81 m
Armament 4 x 20mm cannon.
2 x 132lb (60kg) bombs
Notes In a complete departure from the Japanese design philosophy of manouverability over all else, the Raiden, known to the allies as Jack, was optimized for performance, basically speed and rapid climb rate.
The prototype first flew in March 1942 but was plagued with faults. Despite these setbacks the J2M2 entered service in December 1943.
The later J2M5 variant was able to climb at over 3,000 feet per minute up to almost 40,000 feet.
Just over 500 Raidens were produced by the end of the war.

I'd be surprised if sufficient data to do a reasonable FM for the G4M ("Betty") is'nt available.  After all, the Game That Shall Remain Nameless  Formerly Worked On by HTC had a G4M in it.

...and a lovely one it was too!  And my unit did their longest single raid to date in G4Ms (nearly three hours) escorted by some Hiens, who did a very nice job on keeping those dratted P38s at the tail end of New Guinea at bay., and still rtb'd OK.  We didn't lose a single bomber on that raid, even though they're about as flammable as a can of petrol! :-)) ) Even better, the two planes we slipped around the Allied positions that bombed Port Moresby from the south also got through unscathed, thanks to a little diversion for the round-eyes HQ arranged at my asking, heheheh...

Ah, don't you just love it when a plan works? ;-)
