c47 racing map
« on: March 29, 2003, 09:22:37 PM »
ok im building a c47 racing map and for it i have 8  ackless bases set up in equel distances from the main takeoff base in the center...but im wondering how many grids i should set the other bases from the main base...i want it to take about 5-6 minutes flying time to get there in a c47 (maximum 8 minutes flight)

and does anyone have any ideas for racing camo (nothing to flash...)

and what can i put on the way there to make it a bit more interesting to fly...(unavoidable so you cant cheat)

Do you really mean C-47 (Goons/Dakota) racing map?

Ok, this is universal and the distance depents on speed:

Speed 200 MPH, distance 25 miles (25 grids), time 7 min 30 sec
Speed 260 MPH, distance 25 miles, time about 5 min 50 sec
Speed 300 MPH, distance 25 miles, time 5 min
Speed 360 MPH, distance 25 miles, time about 4 min 15 sec
Speed 400 MPH, distance 25 miles, time about 3 min 50 sec

I think 25 miles is good both C-47 and P-51D!:D

Put there hills and canyons (fly on the deck), bridges (fly under), houses (fly between), trees and different objects (fly on the deck and between them) etc.

Air racing is best when you fly really near ground!;)

hmm...20 miles should be good... ill throw in some turns here and there add some houses here and there...

and just as a change instead of whoever goes fastest on one track it will be 8 tracks 1 per person (this will be used in hth) of the same distance and whoevers captureing base is captured first wins the prize...will take some work but i can do it...

any advice for the map is welcome...

I do believe vorty was on about the white grids in the TE, which are 1 mile2

Btw, this sounds like a weird and special map, you looking for my title?

I have something along this line.  It's a canyon with ack at the top ( so you can't cheat) you all start on a different parallel runway. along the way there is hangers to fly under, bridges to fly under, a hill climb, and plenty of tight turns and obsticles in the path.

it's about 2 years old but still works well:)

thanks dover...i have the first half of my map almost done...just have to throw in some obsactles along the way and fix a few holes in the canyon wall...then ill just mirror it...

so far it to TE seems to be one of the most buggy little things ive ever used but im getting used to it...

would it be possible for me to make custom tiles for the map...
