Sunday SquadOps - overall results.
« on: March 31, 2003, 12:50:02 PM »
Hi all,

Here are the results of the SquadOps "European Bomber War".

Frame 1 Axis victory
Frame 2 Minor Allied victory
Frame 3 Allied victory

Well done the Allies for an overall victory for this SquadOps.

I will be running the next SquadOps after MrFork on the Eastern front.

Please post overall comments on this SquadOps and any ideas for improving the Sunday SquaOps as well.

All, and a special thanks to my new Setup CM Pyroman :)

Hi Grayarea,

I'd like to say a very big thanks & to the whole CM team and to you and Pyroman in particular for the last SO. Thanks for putting up with all of us and making it worthwhile and interesting time & again :)

I have a couple of ideas:
1. Amending the Squad Ops rules to note that an exception to the 2 hr time limit will be in effect when long ranged sorties are expected in the frame, so people can get the satisfaction of successful landings.

2. Add a "Time on Target" (ToT) objective in CO's list of frame objectives for targets that need to be bombed within a certain time frame. The ToT time should be reasonable to allow the planning CO enough flexibility to create a reasonably sound battle plan,  and offcourse discreet, so the other side's CO does not use this to his advantage.

Apart from that, theres also one question that come to my mind, will we be placing future Squad Ops on hold while the Guadalcanal scenario takes its course ?
I don't know if any SO squads have registered for this event, but mine is in any case, and we might have some trouble with keeping attendance up for both. We did the same during the Niemen scenario.

bad idea

1. CO cant chose when he hit trg /broken one of primary strike rule/
2. That not give CO free chose of planes route, possibly "fastest" will be allways only one. Easy to intercept by enemy.
3. Interceptors can be concentrated in one area just before end of ToT /if strike was not done yeat/, and easy destroy whole bomber forces over and close to target. Even after succesful bomb raid.

Currently both Friday and Sunday Squad Ops are planned to run while Guadacanal is running (Guad on Saturday). We will check with each group of squads to make sure this is what they want to do. Obviously if the sunday squads want to put things on hold we will. If they want to run sundays we will.
