SlapShot

LDV:

I think the La-5/7 retain energy very well.  Although they replenish so quickly any energy they do lose, it's a bit hard to tell.

The Spit IX is a very very good plane, - in my opinion the best overall fighter in AH. There is no plane both faster and more nimble. And it's well armed too.
It does have inferiorities in some fields against certain planes, but as well superiorities against the same, so duelling a Spit IX on equal terms with another plane usually leaves you in the mud, - if the Spit pilot knows his job.
The main weakness of the Spit IX is speed, - many planes in AH are quite a bit faster, so the B&Z is the favourite of  many. however, a proper B&Z requires something else than equal terms.
And imagine, the Spit IX we have is not nearly the best Spit, its just a modest high alt fighter from 1942.....
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

The C-205 retains energy very well and will outrun all spits level
without wep except the Spit-14.

The N1K2 can out-turn the Spit IX and is actually a few MPH faster up to about 10K  :)

The Spit probably holds its E better though.

In my experience, the Hurri IIC does well against any of the Spits. Of course, the Spitfire is popular with the less experienced flyers. That probably has more to do with my success against them than anything else.

Spits are off my menu from now on. Three times today I got into a turning fight with a Spit. I was in an La7 twice and a 109G-10 once. I turn he turns tighter, round and round we go, him gaining on me and me sweating. I try something clever and 'game over'. I got away once in an La7 by trying some crazy manoeuvres and ran, which I never do. He chased me an I ran and ran like a Mustang jock until he finally gave up. Whew, never again!

N1K's are to be avoided too. Two intense fights with I think a Japanese? guy in a nicky, resulted in two kills for me but resulted in a broken joystick trigger and an increase in blood pressure. We got so close in a vertical scissors that I could read his instruments!!! Good flying Tonio!

From now on I only attack easy aeroplanes like 262's and 163's:eek:
