After the war
« on: April 05, 2003, 12:09:46 AM »
After Iraq is free from its dictator what will become of it?  What will have to take root is capitalism before any form of democracy  has a chance of a long life.  I am in favor of an interim government as was used to set Japan on its course.  Iraq will need to be ruled by Americans for a long time to establish an environment conducive to capitalism.  This region of the world doesn’t have a history of democracy.  This region has always been ruled by kings, dictators, and clergy.  All have produced countries filled with subsistence living standards.   America will have to rule for a long time as all the countries around Iraq will take every opportunity to undermine Iraq’s attempt to establish democracy.  Even with all the riches under Iraq’s sand it has an up hill struggle.  It has been established that the best country to lose a war to is the America.  All nations that were defeated by the America have only prospered.  Iraq is at a cross roads in its history.  If they embrace Americas’ rule and embrace capitalism they will have riches beyond belief!

It may seem to you that this post is a bit arrogant.  It isn’t meant to be.  I want the people of Iraq to live as well as we in the West live.

I saw a segment on TV today that said they were going to send Iraqis that fled to America 20 years or so ago over there to establish the interim gov't.  Makes sense to me.

Just saw an interview with a military guy.  Said they are hiring Iraqis as drivers for the water trucks.  If I understood him he said the Iraqi provides the truck.  Wonder if ya buy the truck from the military?

A socialist democratic govt.

The test will be when the Kurds want their reward for fighting Saddam, and if the Shi ites in the south want some type of autononmy, or to join Iran.

Straffo, you forgot to mention the ELF-Aquitaine State. :D

(Yes, I find that quite funny that now the UN wishes to "participate" in the rebuilding part, hehehe... Colin didn't seem so keen though)
