I love my IT guy...just not in a Dowding sort of way
« on: April 04, 2003, 01:05:54 PM »
The guy was about to re-build my computer and upgrade it to XP, for the third time.  He made some inquires just before I went to lunch and found out that there may have been an issue with the motherboard not supporting XP due to its age.

So, without asking me, he went down to the computer store, bought me a new motherboard with a P4 chip (and 512MB DDR ram) and is now putting it all together.

This guy rocks my world...in a computer techie kind of way.

See you up tonight, I hope.

;)

You should have asked me. I would have done it for you and got it right the first time. :)

Maybe the board would have supported XP if the BIOS was updated?

So if you get into a fender bender, instead of saying "That guy banged me in the ass" can we now say I was "Dowded"?

You would have flown all the way here to do that?  I have a cute tight butt and all, but that is waaaay above the call of duty beet1e;)

He did try and update the bios, but ran into difficulties for some reason.

He is working on it as I write this...after fiddling for 5 hours yesterday....my hard drive apparently had an extra jumper switch on it which he could not find the reason for in any of the settings we saw yesterday on the tech support page for the type of HD that it is....that one littel jumper switch caused ALL kinds of problems with the new motherboard and video card, but not with my older ones for some reason.

Who knows...what am I a tech guy?  NOT!
