Oh man, the modified map where the A1 field was put down to 3k or so was a BLAST - best map IMHO.
No room for cvs though and it was disbanded.
But it was well thought out - fights were spread out, vehicle fields really offered something in the ways of combined arms. I fondly remember supporting the tanks on the ground, taking out the vehicle hangar and then have friendly tanks blow away the oppostion.
As it is now, ground missions are doomed to fail miserably, virtually no chance. In part because of the OStwind being used as an anti tank killer, but mostly because the spawn points are less than perfect, and not well supported by friendly air fields.
Would love to see something like it, but incorporating the new strat model.
As a sidenote: I have a hard tim getting used to this enw strat model. The convoys seem enxt to useless since they're quite infrquent and one can fly lots of goons or drive m3s in in the meantime. At the same time the resupply thing makes it almost not worthwhile to hit dar. It might be a general confusion thing though: can you resupply say a fuel strat target?
If not, the word needs to be spread: then fuel can be taken down, and resupplies will only resupply a given amount.
If they can be resupplied, it really isn't worth it.
Also loved the long flights were a couple of guys take bombers, the rest act as fighter sweep - fly along the enemy front, face *stiff* competition, and take out stategic things on each air field - like fuel or barracks or ammo. Earlier that lead to a really big advantage if one could pull it off.
Of course, buffing at 35k and milk running front fields were annoying - but now we got the ta152 and me262 to deal with such dweebery.
I applaud HTC for the additions to the stategic part of the game. It is my wish that they now will be synchronized with what used to be, instead of as now, sort of replacing the old with something newer, but not working as well-er.
