Do people assume that every F4U they see in the MA is a C model?  I hope not...

I think you have to get pretty close(>1.0) to see the visual differences; namely the big yellow cowl ring, and white arrow on the right wing and fin of the -1D.

OTOH, if you get to see anything other than the nose, it must be a -1D.

If you get close enough to see there ISN'T a yellow ring yer either already dead or about to be.

LOL.. got into a tussle with a Corsair a few days ago.. we got to the scissors and he pinged me after a beautiful cut over the top.. MG hits!

I was so surpised I was still alive; I missed the next reverse and he killed me.

Hi

I had a fight with a dhog few days ago guy flew so damn good it looked he was pulling chog ufo crap, in the end I shot him down but it was a hell of a good fight. Id prolly be dead if he was in a chog cuz he pinged me once, and we all know whats thats like. So I guess there are 2 or 3 guys who actually do fly the only real Corsair in AH. Big <S> to you fellas!

thanks GRUNHERZ

Well, I finally got shot down by a 1C. (don't see um much in H2H). Got banged by 3 of them. I killed the first 2, but the third got me. You guys are right. Way overmodeled.

VMF-115 and VMF-323 both fly the 1D, so that makes at least 30 1D pilots

check out Duckwing6's scores... he's the best 1D pilot out there
