3550hp engine in the Wyvern as originally plannned! That's

Just for the record, the F-105 was originally designed to deliver nuclear weapons, ie attack, with a2a capabilities as secondary.

My father flew f-101's and wanted to stay in the usaf when the f-105's came out.  As he was getting out the 105's came in, that was the only plane he wanted to fly and he missed it.  I can be thankful considering he would have went to veitnam and giving their operational losses there would have been a good chance I wouldn't be here.  I love that bird.

They did get brutalized in vietnam. 50% of the production run lost or something like that.
