what the hell is advanced scuba diving?
Well, it's the grey area between true technical diving and normal style no decompression diving. Basically limited decompression diving, wreck penetration, use of redundant gas system and the like.
It is now however use of trimix or extensive 1h+ deco diving. As it is, there isn't really a term for it, so I call it 'advanced' scuba diving, since it is a good deal more dangerous and advanced than yer normal no deco nature dive and requires more equipment, training and planning.
Hope this clarifies it. Oh btw; since you scuba dive, I gotta tease you a little; how many Whiskey class Russian submarines have you dived? We got one lying outside Anholt in 40 meters of water. Was towed to be sold for scrap, but sank. Cannot penetrate it but escape hatches, rudder, conning tower etc are visible and the wreck as a whole very well preserved.
Well worth checking out if yer going to DK.
Diving in close to the coast sucks though, with max visibility here in northern Dk being around 9 feet. On a good day. Wildlife is also sparese compared to for instance Norway of the Swedish west coast - but we have great wreck diving here, including lots of WWII artefacts - shot down allied bombers, German submarines, merchant vessels and the like. Conditions vary wildly and unpredictably though, which makes it sort of a hassle.
In wintertime nothing beats a good dry suit, although I must admit one is a good deal less flexible in such a one. And I always worry about snagging it on some piece of metal in an area I can't reach.
But diving sure sounds to me like a lot more fun than being shot at.
Someone said 'LIVE FREE OR DIE' as a response to one of my posts. Maybe that person misread me; was saying that IF I could live freely *without* having to risk my life to do so, why should I risk it? I mean, I see things in terms of risk management - always eliminate or minimize as many of 'em as possible. So if I can reach my objective through a risk of 0, I am gonna do that. That's not being a coward - it's just using common sense.
