Please change the Fuel Burn Rate for Trinity..
« on: April 13, 2003, 08:21:52 AM »
Unlike some other people, personally, I like the field distances in Trinity.

But the problem is, while current MA fuel settings are suitable for small scale maps with bases 20~25 miles away, in Trinity, where the map is large and flight time is considerably longer, some planes just have no place for action except passive field defense purposes.

The characteristics of Trinity(large scale, bases placed far from each other) bring out a lot of more tactical situations where a lot of flight time is required.

I'm not exactly thinking of Bf109s flying as long as P-51s, but with internal fuels, by the time some planes like the 109, or the 190A-5 get over enemy field, they have like 10 minutes of fighting time. If for any reason DTs are dropped during the travel to enemy base, then that sortie is almost good as ruined, because you'll just go have to RTB and refuel to do what you had in mind.

I request the fuel burn rate for ONLY the Trinity terrain, be changed to be about 1.5 times slower than it is now.

That makes sense to me :)

Additionally a slower fuel burn rate would be good on every map of comparable size. Dunno if the desert map is still in rotation but more range on desert and trinity gets my vote :)

IMO, the problem is not the fuel burn rate but the porked bases. I rarely find a single border field with more than 25% available.

I too have noticed this.  I have caught several "Porkstangs" amd watched others that I could not get dive in and fire rockets at the fuel.  Sometimes they auger, sometimes they pull out, extend and come back to do another fuel tank with their guns.

For some reason every plane I've seen doing this has been a P-51D.
