No, the POW rescue comes in a future mission, and trust me, you're NOT looking forward to it (well, I hate *silent* mishuns, personally)
Just continue down the multiple tunnels, you'll find a way out.

PS: I think 80% of the players fell for the lightstick thingie, they should have posted a note about it... or at least make you start the level with your light on!
