A 13 kill Bf109G10/30mm sortie film..
« on: April 26, 2003, 07:15:20 PM »
Some guys wanted me to post this film as a training guide for the Bf109G10 and the 30mm cannon.  Here it is - I got lucky a few times, kept vertical, and aimed well most of the time. The film starts just before the fifth kill.

SEE IT HERE

Enjoy!

My poor n00b Knights!!. Like lambs to the slaughter.

Great film. You can always learn something new no matter how much you already've flown.

Very nice movie, a good lesson on how to keep your E and not be
tempted to dive down on any target below u.
Great shooting.

Wrong! Knights are -Abel-  Bishrooks are the -Lambs-. We, the Ethos shall have control over the  earth dwellers with our mighty Xeno weapons and we will control the feeble minds of the masses for our super weapon Deus for we shall unleash the weapon that will bring humanity to the brink of extinction and begin the mutation by which we will with our nano technology improve upon them...

... and then only then will the human species become a new super being an entity of higher existence in the Zohar.

Yes Gruenherz  nice film :D

Very good film, Grunherz. :D  Exactly what I needed when I posted that 109 thread. Only a handful of people were able to provide film, but of course there was a lot of talk... ;)

Two things that particularly impressed me about your film.
  • First was your wisdom to decide when not to press home an attack. A couple of times in the film, a bogie was not quite where he needed to be for you to fire upon him. Instead of attempting an E-bleeding turn (sounds more polite than a bleeding E turn - lol) you aborted the attack and chose to conserve E instead by converting your speed back to alt. You never once gave up your alt advantage. :)
  • The second thing was your judicious use of ammo. With only a 60 round load out to the hub cannon, you cannot spray and pray. Only when a bogie filled your windscreen did you use the hub cannon. I was monitoring the ammo counters carefully.
This leaves one question. For some of those kills you used only the 20mm guns. Those are BB guns for me. I suspect it's a connection thing. I remember in WB, always having to use planes with strong guns because of the lag/packet loss, whereas some guys could get kills using only 2% ammo. But when iEN went to another ISP, there was wailing and gnashing of teeth over the lag/warps/packet loss. I, on the other hand, seem to have gained a preferential distribution of the available bandwidth and had the best month ever. Once got a clean kill with 3% of my .50 cals from a F6F. Aces High has always been much better than WB in this area.

So my question is this: What sort of connect do you get where you live, and what is your ping time? I get 150ms in AH. In WB, I was lucky to get better than 400ms, and there was no way for me to get kills the way you did, with the 20mm - at least not in the online game. Offline it was a different story...

Thanks again for the film! I'll watch it a few more times. :D:D

My cable modem connection is kinda spotty, it will become very bad very quickly at random times (usually the wrong time :) ) and will often disco. But when I log on its usually in the 50-70 range so its good if it stays that way and doesnt go psycho.

You asked about the 2 kills I got with 13mm.  I used 13mm vs the flopping 190 because I did not want to waste 30mm on such a hard target - since we were alone and on the deck I figured he would either run out of e and I'd nail him then or he would auger by himself, which he did. The 13mm fire was there to keep him scared and maybe even do some damage. I used 13mm with the A6M2 because I figured I could get in enough damage before he know what was going on as he was target fixated.

Generally speaking the 13mm are actually quite useful to me now. I emphasize "now" because when I first started flying the AH 109s, I thought the 13mm were crap. The secret is you just have to get close and aim in one area. If you do that youll find out they are a decent weapons set in their own right - I even killed a P47 at 850yards with them once.

Wtg Grun, the last NIK kill on ZOZO or whoever was a very nice high angle deflection shot, the single 30mm surprise.
