Where are all the "order your new computer now" website links?  Are you guys sure your not computer salesmen in disguise?  I am P2-550 w/ TNT2 Video card.  I have had rubber bullet syndrome for a long time.  Now I will be out looking for at least a new video card.

if you're seeing rubber buwwets, it may be something else.... like FSAA being enabled.. but dunno if you card has that feature.... i kind of doubt it. but...

also do you have vsync enabled? if not you migt gain more fps at the expense of rubber buwwets.

Thanks Caveman and Shane, It might just be that my gunnery stinks too. :p   I am building a coalition now to get the New Gaming Computer Bill through the appropriation committee (my wife).  I am afraid I might have to add on too much pork (new shoes, clothes, and maybe an exotic vacation) in order to do so.  Knowing that it might make me a better pilot helps me to swallow some of these concessions. :D

I would caution against buying a boxed computer, if you're considering an upgrade. To play games like AH, we need specialised kit - particularly with regard to the graphics card. A boxed computer may well have a card that's "adequate for most applications", but not for PC gaming. So you end up having to rip it out and buying another one. Best bet is to build your own PC, or have someone do it for you - not difficult.

Having said all that, Skuzzy has made assurances that a card like the Radeon 9700 thing would be adequate for all future releases of AH. Ie they're not going to be like Brand-W and require subscribers to upgrade to vastly expensive cards.

I'm waiting to see how AH2 looks before my next upgrade.

Duely noted Beet1e.  I have built my last two computers.  I splurged and got the first all-in-wonder card ATI put out, and got a TNT2 card pretty early in its development, but haven't done anything since then.  I think that your suggestion to wait till AH2 comes out is a great idea.  However, I hope I don't fall under the minimum specs.

Correct me if I wrong ...  but doesnt the human eye only read about 40fps.   So there would be no way to "see" the difference between 40 and 100fps.     So if your machine is getting anywhere from 35 up...  a new machine with more frames isnt really going to help much.

Going to a High resolution may help,  which a new machine could do, will give better eye candy and might aid a little.

I have my Frames per second limited to 45,   As I understand... when in the thick smoke your computer doesnt have to attempt to draw more than 45,  so you have a better chance of maintaining decent frame rates.    That might be rumor thou.

Iv got AH running on few machines of Various speeds,  I dont see a huge difference between them.   Iv also done H2H over the Lan and there is no speed differnce between like planes.

I dont think a better PC makes you a better pilot,  It really comes down to basic skills and SA.

I noted the plane types,  both are excellent planes for watching for a safe kill.   Id guess that would be the reason your dying less.  And if you flew them before, then perhaps your judgment is better and your SA is better.

My old gaming machine died about the time I decided to quit AH about a year ago. I bought a boxed computer, an emachine 2080, which did everything I needed, and could even run AH at 800 x 600 16bit. When I started getting back in to AH recently I just stuck in an AGP Radeon 9000 and it works fine, 75 fps at 12xx X 10xx, dropping to about 60 in serious clouds, smoke, and other planes. So, for under $800 I got great gaming, DVD, RW CD, 10/100 hookup and more useless "free" programs than you can shake a stick at. As a matter of fact, the only bad thing about "Boxed" is all the pop-up/auto update crap you gotta disable.

A break usualy helps, no need of a biger puter. After a break I fly quite ok for a week or two... then, I'm back to my usual dweebnessing ...

I thought the human eye could only distinguish up to around 25fps.
I always build my systems that way I get what I want.
Latest one -

MSI KT4 Ultra (KT400 chipset)
XP2600+ (333fsb) CPU
2 x 512Mb Corsair DDR400 RAM
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128Mb RAM
Audigy soundcard

Thinking of getting the Epox 8RDA+ motherboard, Dual Channel DDR support! Also has the very latest nForce2 chipset.
It is getting great reviews. Would love to try out an AMD Barton XP2800+ CPU on a dual channel DDR motherboard!
