could we have a small update?

Bah Humbug.

I know the feeling though - I've found myself in the hangar staring at the aircraft list and then going "naaaaaaah" and logging.

Try flying the Il2 if you want that "Oh my god I'm gonna die!" feeling.

Edit: PS Famin - it's 5-6 years - we started late '97 in AWIII Ithink

I also find that a break is better then any updates that AH might be able to bring out and personally I'd rather see other changes/updates then another early war plane that just ends up sitting in the hanger anyway. I mean, look how long people wanted the JU87 and now you'd be lucky to see one.

Personally AH for me is starting to gather dust rather quickly and I'm looking forward to AH2. In the meantime try something like Nascar 2003 Racing as I have and it's starting to eat away a rather large chunk of my AH time..

The graphics are amazing, the action is constant and imo alot better then the best furballs you'll ever have in AH. Plus when your good you can try multiplayer.

Not to mention the sound of those 750 ponies. Check it out.

<--- currently taking a months leave in WW2OL (apart from AH special events).

WW2OL is still a pile of buggy code, an I'm not really flying - just infantry and tanks.

I too have AH burnout. But would AH2 screenshots help? Nah. Its just game burnout, I needed something other than air 2 air.

But I do think the paying customerbase needs a little carrot thrown in front of it.

Aces High II Press Release
HiTech Creations Announces a New Revolution in Online Combat Simulation - Aces High II: Tour of Duty

It's been 3 months to the day. A screenshot or twenty at least would be nice. A patch to fix a couple of bugs (de-tracked Tiger comes to mind) would be wonderful. Both would be bliss.

I don't think the odd plane here or
there will make much of a difference
to AH1. I think it needs more in the
way of strategy to make teamwork
more critical (and easier to organise).
I.e. more of a continuing war feel than
just capture the flag. I'd rather HTC
spent time putting that into AH2 than
a few planes into AH1. I'd be happy
with more strategy, and more immersive
graphics in AH2, and no new planes
at all to begin with.

For as long as I've been here (2+ years), we've had to plead and prod HTC for screenshots/news updates on how the latest version is coming along.   That aspect of community management just doesn't seem to be very high on their list of priorities.

It strikes me as bad business, but what do I know?   It's probably unfair to expect a company to be good at everything.   Maybe their role model is an absentee landlord.  ;)

For now, I'll just have to take it as it is.  AH is the best MMOL flight sim ever, it's currently in maintenance mode, and it could be another 3-6 months before we hear or see anything of it's successor.   Summer's almost here so I can keep myself busy with other stuff.

Peace out

The Lag has been real bad lately in the MA.  3 -ship bomber formations come to mind..maybe they've  put off AHII development and have been working on that-or maybe they whole office is busy playing Forgoten Battles like the rest of us. 3 months after the announcement and nothing at all to SHOW???

Oboe - perhaps they don't post news much, but they've more than made up for it with releasing a new version every 3 months. How many games can claim the same? I'd rather have not much news about a definite advance, rather than lots of news about 'promises'. Sadly, the latter case is often found in the games industry and the online flightsim department specifically.

Furthermore, after all the wailing and gnashing of teeth over the last few screenshots during recent version releases, perhaps they'd rather wait until they had something polished and concrete to reveal. A progress update would be welcome, however.

Lastly, talk of HTC going 'belly up' is at best premature, at worst hysterical. The sky is not falling in - of that I'm sure.

cc I hear ya, Dowding.   Especially about the "promises" part.  False news (or promises) are worse than no news.

Yes, its too bad we whine for screenshots, and then whine about what we get.   Certainly its true every plane has its proponents and opponents, and often it gets pretty vocal.  I know I got pretty bent out of shape about the Ki.84.   But, I'm better now. :)

In all though, I think I'd rather be kept more up-to-date about whats going on with the sim, rather than left wondering like this.   But perhaps that's not realistic, for reasons I don't know (or would understand).     News updates are a fine art, too.  I know the ones WBs provided had a real cut and paste feel after a while.   Lots of text, but they didn't really provide alot of new insight or info.   Maybe that's changed now.    Pyro's have always been very good, when he does them.

PS.  I also agree rumor's of HTC's demise are ridiculous.

False news already came in the form of having a mission based MA for version 1.11.  I hope having AHII ready for open-beta for 3rd quarter 2003 is not also.

I would like to see more support craft and bombers added. I think the bombing aspect of AH has evaporated since they added the calibration requirement. Changing the one gunner limit on bombers would be interesting too. Some planes/vehicles I would like to see:

B-24 Liberator
ME-165 Gigant (as a perked 3x capacity cargo plane mebbe :) )
PBY Catalina
B-25 Mitchell with nose cannons
T-34 Tanks
And some Jeeps fer crying out loud, they were only the most mass produced vehicle of the war...

My Two Cents
