Well, ...being a Novice/Newbie I was really excited to hear skuzzys post, and thought for kicks I'd share mine from last night (I think?? maybe night before...damn..too much beer   )

I just joined the 308th Sq, great bunch of guys, and was up there with them for the second time.  I'm sitting around at some airfield kinda flying around in my spit, when Funked chimes in on the com, "Im in a Panzer heading to 26! Someone take that VH!"  Just the fact that I could finally hear things like "VH" and know what the hell he was talking about was cool.

So I nose over and pull a landing any pilot with any sense would have smacked me for, and jump in a Lanc and head for the base.

Now I've been playing online games for a few years now and the following feelings/realism has NEVER happened!

A sq mate, High Five, jumps in a spit and escorts me.  I barely make it over the mountain to 26 at 10,000ft and just as I clear it there is a 109 closing way to fast for my underwear to handle....

All I type is ..."con"
All that HighFive types is "Got him"

I watch as I begin my bomb run....I figure if High Five says he has him, I'm gonna keep puching, becuase I was about 15 sec from bomb drop.  I could actually feel my face against the bomb sight nervously looking up out the window as the 109 is closing, closing, closing,...7 sec to bomb drop.

The split second before I HAD to go to guns to fire, the 109 was 1.1k away, and somehow, as I look out the window, a HUGE highfive (50ft away from me) rips into the clear in between me and the 109 and fires a short burst and the poor bastard in the 109 exploded in mid air.  probably never even saw HighFive.

My wife yelled "Quiet down!" As I literally pulled a Homer Simpson "Woo-hoo" and Slauted High5 many times over the com.

so any way I drop my bombs and destroy the VH.  Funked gives and encouraging "Man I saw those bombs hit...nice" and I begin my turn to make another pass.  When I finally got around to start my second run, BAM there are 2 109's in the air.  I could almost hear High5 mutter "damn" as he was deciding to engage.  Im not sure what happened next, or how this happened, but as high5 engaged the first 109, the second starts closing on me.  I go to  the front turret and wait...1.5...1.3....1.1.

Just as I'm about to open fire, I hear two pings...see another 109 that was on my 6 blow by me. While I was looking at him, the original closing 109 fired and must have hit me good becuase the next thing I know, I'm in the tower.

Damn, this game rules.

Damn, my squad is awesome.

Sorry for the bandwagon rant, just thought I'd share.

Nicely Written Shade!!  Makes your hands shake, huh?

I have been here since last October, and I still get that feeling!  I have met some great people in this sim.

The 308 Squadron is one of the best and a great team!  They will teach you right!

Just remember, if ever you get upset or disappointed, back off, walk away, and take a rest.  This is a much better alternative than to say something you might regret later.

Once I got very upset and let Ripsnort (CO of JG2 at the time) know it by telling him what happened over RW.  It had nothing to do with him, I just had to let off some steam. Well later I was disappointed in my actions, because I usually never get upset.

You will hear some whining and squeaking in on the text buffer, just ignore it and continue to have fun! Your squad will show you the way!!      You are fortunate to be with 308, they have many great sticks there!!

You are certainly on the correct track!!

Salute Sir Shade!  And hope to see you up!!!

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Great story.  I have buffed many times, so it was easy for me to get into this one.

Got me shaking!

Great story!

I did notice one mistake, so that I must be the one to piont it out.  To me it seems very glaring, and requires my time to do so.

ROFL Minotaur.  Good one.  I find it really interesting how my story has sparked so many posts to the BB about many other things and other stories.

Heck, I need to fly some more so I can tell other tales.  The BB is getting to be fun too!
