let me get this right - they want to pay *you* to go get trained as an ATC, then give you a job straight out of training?

might be interesting to move to europe for a spell..

No different than here in the US Moose. FAA definitely pays ya while they're training ya. When they're hiring that is.

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't training include having to say "student controller" every two minutes for 3 years?

I was an ATC back in 1993, and have been considering it as well.

1000 Euro's for 2 years is crap though for a training salary.

It's 1000 Euros for the first 11 weeks, and it increases pretty sharply after to that to a more liveable level.

I'm a FV-2101 an Airways System Specialist. and my job has been open under Nation wide continous bid for 5 years....... Its High tech work and the pay tops out in the 90 grand range, but like I said its steady work. As for the Controller jobs, the mass hire of thr Reagen years is about to retire and there are predictions of up to a 60% loss of controllers in the next 3 years, so if you are under 35 and have a 4 year degree go to FAA.GOV and check out the Jobs link, cuz I dont want to be sitting here by my self running 40 hours of over time a week in 3 years.

I sent off for the application form (even though I doubt they will accept me because I am epileptic). 1181 Euros for first 11 weeks if you are single and an ex-patriate (i.e. you and me probably, not being Belgian - although being in the EU, the UK might count as a patriate country).

After that it goes up to 1475 for 5 months. After this five months it goes up to 2037 Euros for the rest of the training.

If that is after taxes that isn't too bad considering after training you'll be earning 3700 Euros and eventually 4700 Euros.

They take 30 people a year from all around the world.
