George Bush in an HGU-55P

Pere Bush was the real hero, flew Avengers in WW2. Utmost respect for him. I heard Son Bush enlisted in the ANG to escape the war in Vietnam, possibly at his father's suggestion and with his father's connections. I don't know enough to make my own opinion, but that's what one of my US history teachers said. IMO, anybody who flies fighter jets, in peace time of combat, has more than enough balls to go around.

Yeppers... a very fine line there.  Seems the electronics packages were really the only things distinguishing them at the time... and about 300mph of speed.

"Dubya flew the F-102, the first production supersonic jet aircaft in the U.S. Military. How do I know this, you say. My father flew 102's in Bitburg German in the late 1950's. His squadron would go up against Chuck Yeager's Squadron in Tripoli in ACM traning. Also, one of my dad's squadron newsletters once traced where their aircraft went, and at least three went to Texas.

Intersting note about the F-102. Even though it was the first supersonic fighter in the inventory, there is not an example on display in the Smithsonian, only a three foot model which displays the coke bottle fuselage.
"

You twice said that the 102 was the first supersonic fighter in the US inventory. That is just wrong. I am not sure what your problem is but the F100a was a supersonic fighter in service 2 years before the the F102. I have never heard someone contest the point before.

The coke bottle fuselage was the reason they made the F106. To take advantage of a design teqnique that led to a major rework of the aircraft. So the only 102s that had it were the first prototypes for the 106. No production 102 had it.
Post links till you go blue in the face. your wrong on both counts. If you care so much about these aircraft you should learn a little about them.

A pretty good writeup on the F-106:

http://www.wpafb.af.mil/museum/research/fighter/f106a.htm

That site has excellent information on all of the Jet fighters.  The 106 also had that Genie air-2-air nuke.
