Really enjoyed it tonight
« on: May 03, 2003, 05:33:31 AM »
CM's and all who participated, I had a blast tonight (Once I had worked out the dot commands so I did not have to use the maproom).

Nice matchup I thought, speed verses agility. but hell those Peggy guns are evil. spade. :p

One whine, despite it being probably the most publicised aspect of SQD OPS I notice from the logs Vulcan and myself both shot the same person down (Long interval between each occurance).

Please guys it has been said often enough it's a "1 life" event.
.

Looking forward to frame 2.

Actually no .. certain IJN players did have 2 official lives. Anyone assigned to fly a Kate or Val was in their first life was allowed to have a second life.

Daddog did this to make up for the fact that Kate and Vals are simply dead meat against F4U-1Ds and F6Fs. So instead of penalizing players for having to use these planes to launch dive bomb attacks and torp attacks (and they have to be up in numbers to effective .. a large squad hit C25 and took all of them to kill one CV) he decided to allow them to have a second ride.

So this might explain things.

Now another items has come to my attention. I apologize to the 880th who had a very uneventful night defending P40 on the IJN side.

I had tasked the 332nd to first hit P38, which they did, and then go after P40 but things changed during the frame. The Fleet Defenders, Dogz of War at C31, C33 and C35 came under attack. And had some reports of fighters also near the 332nd after their mission.

So basically pulled them back and gave them the option of landing at the CV at Task Group B and then striking back to the south versus P40 or quick strike on P32 and hten back south after P40 after Dogz of War dealt with things.

The way it played out was some sharp fighting to the south resulting in only 1 Dogz of War pilot left alive and then more enemy activity near Task Group B .. where the 332nd was at.

Simply put after the attack on P38 and fleet defense action we did not really have anyone left to battle through down to P40.

C31, C33 and C35 was defended by 1 pilot for about the last hour of the frame of more. 332nd was never able to get back down south because of forces out of A8 and A7.

I did not mean to not go after P40 .. it just played out that way.

My apologies to the warloc and the 880th for an uneventful night.

The logs for last night have been posted at:

http://www.webtreatz.com/tod/lognew.html

When you view these please remember that in the first few minutes of the frame that friendly collision was on. That was its default for this terrain and I did not know that. So alot of people spawned and blew up.

After that here are some quick numbers, Daddog will do full analysis and post later.

    USN
    91 Pilots
    65 Kills of IJN aircraft
    3 IJN CVs sunk
    56 Objects destroyed (P20, A9, P32, P38 attacked)

    IJN
    109 Pilots
    58 Kills of USN aircraft
    2 USN CVs sunk
    4 USN DDs sunk
    [/list]

Well done all and special to those IJN pilots that launched that late frame raid that sunk a DD in the North and 2 DDs in the south.

It was a great learning expeirence for us, we did the best we could.  Next week the shine will be off us and I expect better results from the 325th.  Enjoyed it

One question about the logs...I show a death at the beginning of the frame by "unknown person", well, I didn't die, I successfully launched with no problems...what gives with the logs? I didn't get shot down til very near the end of the frame?

I'll look into it. There are two logs just for everyone's knowledge. There are the raw logs generated out by HiTech's site (they did the coding) and then their is the parser that Gremlin wrote that takes this raw info and formats it out in specific ways and adds text, etc.

Will go back to raw logs and check.
