Any chance of getting some of the icon ranges / data reduced  since with this new version and the combat trim thingymaroo its pretty easy to "fly"  , less HUD data would help to offset the the arcade'ness of the game now and make it more tactical & skilled.

You do know that the icon range has already been reduced (in this version)?

I think the reduced icons we have now are *just* right.  Thanks HTC.  Now if we could just get rid of the hit sprinkles appearing on my dashboard when I shoot and hit someone who is below my nose...

As far as combat trim, I rarely use it.  It's nice to use sometimes in a dive, but I find it too distracting in fights.

Oi! Easy there, that's the only way for me to know I'm hitting something .

This game is FULL of clipping issues that CONTINUE to go unfixed. No attention to the IMPORTANT details... Plane dots showing up through hills and aircraft textures. Its a joke! Planes disappearing below TERRAIN TEXTURES, B-17 turret clipping is the worst!

Did you bring all the bugs from Warbirds over here, hitech?

So much for immersion.

Sheesh Antix, tell me a game that DOESN'T have clipping problems...it's usually down to the graphics card drivers.

Post in the bug reports forum with a description of where you're seeing these things and at what approximate distance, along with your 3D card specification. On my TNT2 back in 1.03, I was confident that all aircraft dot clipping problems had gone; the hit sparks are still there in 1.04 mind you.

Antix, man. Good point!  Tell you what. Call Pyro at (817) 251-1540 and help expose this travesty of a program we're all using. Jeesh. I mean I don't see any of the problems you are but I certainly damn well want them fixed before I or anyone else have to too!!!

I'm not going to sit still for this either!

Antix is right! Those problems make this sim just totally unplayable! As a matter of fact right now I'm going to log on AH and remind myself for several hours how totally unplayable and ridiculous these clipping problems are.

Actually, I was seeing some clipping problems and thought it was a bug in 1.04. Turns out that in trying to get the TV-out working again on my card, I somehow set "use Z buffer" true on the video setup. It was causing all sorts of hell.

Unchecking it fixed it. Now the only clipping issues I still see are planes sometimes below the edge of the cockpit or behind the backrest for a few frames until it figures out it should be hidden.

The younger guys just don't appreciate what we really have these days. You just can't understand how amazing this all is unless you've played Microsoft Flight Simulator with wire-frame "scenery" (ok, grid), flat wireframe mountains along one side of the scenery (boy, those were fun and visually-exciting to fly through the valleys from one side to the other), and the cons that stayed dots no matter how close they got to you.

I'll take a few clipping problems any day.

DM,
You mean you can log on for several hours without worrying about the cash register ringing every hour over in NC??

I used to spiral climb for an hour until the grid scenery looked like a postage stamp.

I haven't seen any clipping in AH with this computer.  Sounds like a driver issue to me.  I've seen 4 different types of ATI cards do it with ALL DirectX games, and Voodoo3 cards do it with older drivers.  DX 7 (not 7a) also had some issues concerning clipping I believe.

Regardless, there will NEVER be a 100% bug free program.  Unlike many games however, AH bugs will eventually get fixed because the game is constantly updated.  Of course this means there will be new bugs as well.    IMO AH is the most "stable" game I have.  I have had a total of 1 system lockup while playing AH since beta .36, and that was due to DX7.

I would almost bet Antix is using an ATI video card (any driver version) or a non-DX7 compliant driver.
