In keeping with historical accuracy... you abort the mission and go home.  In game terms... go below the clouds.  :D

Bombing's the easy bit..... it's hitting the target that might be a bit difficult!  :D

Yes, I know how to bomb through cloud.

You need:

1. Good aircraft perfomance data.
2. Adequate maps
3. Some peparation.

Step 3 involves planning your flight route, including altitudes and times along the way.  You also need to work out at what time to drop bombs, allowing for the fact that you need to drop your bombs BEFORE your aircraft is directly over the target.

It can be done, but unsurprisingly, accuracy tends to be poor, depending on how long it was between last definite visual position fix and point of drop. Which is entirely realistic.  But, if you're accuate enough in your planning and flying, and a tad lucky,and use a large stick of bombs, there is a chance you'll hit something in a particular terrain tile.  Not a great chance, but some.  At a guess, maybe 20% And guess what the enemy fighters will be doing whilstyou're flying like youare on tramlines? Hmmnn..... :-}

Personally I can't be bothered to put that much effort into anything other than a sortie for a big organised game, like Battle of Britain, for example. :-}
