The World Hockey Championships is irrelevant - it's like having a World Baseball Championship without major league players

MY thrust is that the best Ice Hockey players are playing in the NHL.  Having a World Championship without the best players in the world is just silly.

the World Championships are for the guys (NHL) that didn't make it to post season...

if they were still in the hunt for the Cup I guarantee they wouldn't be overseas playing hockey right now.

XJAZZ

So are you saying that the NHL players are inferior to those participating at the World Hockey Championships?  For example, if the Maple Leafs had not been knocked out in the first round, there would have been no Mats Sundin.  How many more top players are missing because their teams are winning in the NHL playoffs?  The NHL playoffs are still more relevant to the top hockey in the world than the World Championships.

Hi

"So are you saying that the NHL players are inferior to those participating at the World Hockey Championships? "
Did I say so? No, I didnt.

NHL looks like a game for Solders of Fortunes who dont care too much which side they playing if salary & benefits are right ie high enough (imho).
Excelent job if you are good enough and you physics can take it. BTW Many Fins play in NHL and many of them could make WHC too.

About 11 months per year ice hockey means nothigh to me. I could care less who win or lose in Finnish national league or in NHL.
Its againg that darn ice hockey and I really look something else.

When its a time of WHC my ice hockey intrest awake. Finland vs Sweden / Russia to most intersting games to me:-)
How OUR guys fight againts our dearest enemys :-)) There is allways teasing, arguing & after playing about the result.

Its just a ice hockey :)

Yes,

There were plenty of NHL players in the WC, infact the whole Canada team and the US team... The Swedish team had about 60/40 % NHL players and they still made it to the final, that says alot.

I agree that the top players are still in the NHL playoff but the marginal between the skill of the players aint that big. Some of the NHL guys djust have cool sounding names and good marketing... Its the same thing in football/soccer.

Anyway the WC provided VERY good quality Hockey as it always has...

And of course i value turnaments like the Winter Olympic Hockey more, when the NHL takes an break to take part. Then theres no room for excuses :)
