well in my system:
Win xp pro
AMD 2200 Xp
512 ddr 3200
ati 9700 OEM PRO  (i know but i only paid 220 for it)
sound blaster gamer 5.1

With newest ATI catalyst 3.4 drivers

Im getting 80 max in the tower
and in fur balls ive seen it drop into the teens. Kinda shocked me
In a shoot im maxed at 100 ( with refresh set @100mhz)

I have the RAGE 3D tweaker as well (maybe i dont have **** set up right in there too)

I remember seeing different people say they were over clocking this card and geting some stable running speeds, I just wanted to knowwhat they were?

Ouch I still get 100 fps (vsync) with a geforce3ti200.

:)

Of course you probably have AA AF etc. turned to the max.

I've haven't tested on my ATI 9000 but my Dad "SE" has loaded the drivers and here is what he said to me today regarding his 9700 PRO...

300 on the up view!!!!!!!!!!!!
110 on the RNWY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In the tower with clip board 100 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope it stays

I would say a gain of 30%

He sounds just a bit happy about the new 3.4 drivers and he does not O/C

There's really no need to o/c your card of Aces High. Just make sure you use one of these programs to unlock your refresh rates in WinXP incase you are stuck at 60FPS in game.

sun i'll get more than 60 but very very rarely in flight and mostly only in a chute or a GV. Lately its seems to be worse ofter upgrading to the Cat. 3.4 drivers

If you only get 60FPS with a 9700Pro something with you system is seriously wrong, that is unless you have AntiAliasing and all that stuff turned on.  But even then you should get over 60FPS.  What resolution are you using?

Something very wrong with that system box.

My system is not much faster, if at all (P4 2Ghz) and I run @ 1600x1200 with 32 bit color and 2xfsaa, no AF and get 140+ in the tower, and very seldom dip to the high 80's.

What Skuzzy said. Your system is not optimized.

BTW Skuzzy, is there a reason why turning AF on makes (message and icon) text blurred?

#1 Did you have an Nvidia card in the box before you installed the Radeon, and if so did you COMPLETELY (i.e reformat)remove all the nvidia drivers?  This is a known issue that severly effects performance of ATI cards.  I'd be willing to be that this is the issue you are experiencing.

#2 What options do you have turned off/on in the BIOS, (specificaly AGP aperture size, fastwrites on/off etc.

I wish I had a monitor that would clock that high at that resolution JimBear.

I turned off vsync, to see what the card could do when I was setting it up.  In normal mode, it stays pegged at 85fps.
