Funk what Power supply and  memory do you have I've been reading through the AMD forums that it could be a power issue but I'm trying to tell if those who have no problem have a power supply higher than 400 Watts.

In another thread I was told apparently it was the Kingston PC2700 of 256MB Value ram that I have I didn't buy the more expensive hyperX for lack of funds, and me not doing any overclocking.

If it was the RAM any knowledgeable people would know of a much more compatible RAM about the same price range?

And if it's the Power SUpply any good cheap power supplies I could buy which would give enough juice to the  8rda+ board for it not to have such problems?

I have the power supply that came with my Chieftec case, its a no name 420W PS, The best thing I could suggest is to download Memtest86 and test out the memory, You can make a bootable disk for it in order for it to work in XP.  See what kind of errors it gives you or doesnt and that will make sure the memory isnt the culprit.  Also just as you suspect the PSU might not have enough juice.  The Nforce2 chipsets are very finnicky about what RAM will work, at one time Crucial XMS had about a 20% success rate, but the MOBO manufacturers have fixed this thru bios updates.  You might want to try the newest bios from EPOX, it is simple to flash it with this board download it extract it to floppy and hit alt-f2 when you 1st get into bios, just make sure you are not overclocked.  I would hope that at least 1 of the 3 steps will fix your problem.

FUnk the problem is it just hang on boot up I can't even hit Alt F2 without it  locking me out I can't do anything about it, I think and I do truly think that most of the Locks up I and others have been experiencing are due to the Whorish power sucking of the Epox board.

You have a 420W Power supply and have had almost no problems yet people with 350 Watts and below have had issues with  the Epox board locking up or  the Keyboard ceasing to work , I might just buy a Codegen 400Watt PSU to see if that takes care of the Problem although I feel that once I  get rid of the lock ups I'll need to RMA the RAM back and Perhaps get some Crucial 2700 Memory since I've been told through the AMD forums it much more compatible with the EPox board than Kingston's.

My EPOX-8K7A  lasted 6 months then just up and died. I hear alot of terrible stories concerning these boards.

It would boot act fine then blue screen of death and told me it couldn't find the HDD's.

For the price you are going to pay for crucial you might as well get Kingston HYPERX memory or Winbond.  I'd say 90% of the guys over at AMdforums are using either of those two, and if you do plan on overclocking at all it is the best memory for that.  I have my XP1700 running at 11x200 FSB or 2.2 Ghz and the memory timings are 5-2-2-2 which is very fast.  I can run prime95 torture test all day long and not have a single error.

Sunking Epox boards are very highly regarded for people that know computers very well and like to play with them and sqeeze out as much power as they can.  The ASUS A7nXdeluxe board has had FAR more reported problems than the EPOX.  Epox is #1 in my opinion followed closely by the ABIT NFS-7 which after its chipset revisions is THE overclocking board to have.  There are guys out there that are hitting 230-250 and higher FSB.  With the XP1700 chip that I have some guys have made it hit 3+ Ghz, not bad considering it is supposed to be a 1.47Ghz processor

Funk do you think a PowMAX 500Watt PSU would work well qith the Epox board here are the specs for the rails Etc.

maybe you can help me decide whether to buy this one or a bit mroe expensive but less wattage Allied Power supply, because the rest of the Power Supplies from Antec and Sparkle are a bit way  expensive for el Glassoid.

Muchas Dankes I wanted to buy this one with shipping is about 40 bucks well within my budget range :D.

I hope it works.

BTW how can I tell what is the split power of the 12V range because I really don't know how to read the specs of a PSU.

glasses, look to see if there is an updated BIOS for that board. a year ago my new puter had bootup problems due to the RAM card. the updated BiOS solved it. check manufactures website.
