Basketball requires more skill, more speed, more strength and more endurance than hockey. I think that the real reason some of you hate basketball is because you were constantly picked last on the playground.
Man Midnight, have you ever actually seen a hockey game?
Basketball requires more speed? Measure the speed of a hockey player vs. the speed of a basketball player... I'd venture to say the hockey player is going twice as fast. When a small puck is travelling at 150mph, I'd say the reaction time has to be faster than grabbing a 30mph large basketball out of the air as well.
Basketball requires more skill? The two sports share many of the same positions. Centers, Offense (Wingers in hockey) and defensemen. All of this while having to skate on ice as effortlessly as you and I walk, and having to set up plays and picks simultaneously.
Basketball requires more strength? Ever seen a battle along the boards for a puck? Any time a basketball player gets shoved, it's whistled as a foul and it's freethrow time. In hockey, fighting for the puck continues until someone gets it unless they get punched in the face. Then it's a foul.
I will say that basketball players probably have more endurance, since hockey players rotate their line frequently. I'll give you that one.
