its totally absurd... you can watch someone get their heads sliced off and used as a kick-ball but you can't see someone's bare butt
I gotta agree with you on this one. I've held the belief that the censors have it all wrong. They've let violence on television get out of control, but when it comes to nudity, well that gets the smack down. Personally, I believe its ok to show folks what the human body looks like so long as the stinky parts are covered.
Take "Baywatch" for example. Its greatest claim to fame is showing chicks in bikinis. No nudity, not even during the "Baywatch: Hawaii" season when ancient Hawaiian customs were shown (strategically placed leis accomplished what a fuzzy blue dot would normally do). And yet there was no prohibition against fist-fights on the beach, or the hero wrestling the bad guy and hitting him with the PFD can. Nobody talked about the gratuitous violence, just the gratuitous bikini shots.
More recently, we have the "Matrix" sequel. {SPOILER ALERT}
There's the love scene where Neo and Trinity copulate tastefully. But you know what? No skin. A bit of Keanu's cheek, but nothing much. Instead, we get a film full of martial arts, gunplay, car chases, steel shards through a guy's chest, and gunshot wounds.
I think somewhere, somehow, America got it all backwards.
